Kevin, whose face had been starting to turn back to its normal shade, turns even redder than before.
“Why do you think something is happening with us?” He asks.
“Don’t make me laugh.” Allison replies.
“Nothing is happening,” he insists. “Seriously, it isn’t. We’ve all just gotten closer since Jean moved to USC. I promised myself I would do a better job of looking out for him.”

“And apparently, you.” Andrew sounded amused by this, like his boyfriend finding their mutual friend Kevin Fucking Day attractive was something to laugh about. “I don’t care. I want him to try if he’s interested. He’s interested in you and I know you’re attracted to him, so if you and him want to have sex this weekend, you have my permission.”

"Thea won't even talk to me during our games. She's my backliner, for god's sake, and she won't even announce a pass to me! It's gonna hurt our game. I can't believe she would do this."
"You sound more worried about your season than your relationship," Jeremy teased. Everyone else listening knew Kevin was, in fact, more worried about their games than his marriage.
"Obviously. She could have dropped this on me in the off-season when we had time to deal with it. Why would she do this to me now? Coach has already noticed the change on the court, how would I explain this?"
"Easy," Jean cut in, voice irritated or distracted, it was hard to tell even after all these years. "Just do what she asked."
Kevin's face distorted in a way only Jean could elicit. "She didn't ask me to do anything."
"Are you saying you know Thea more than her husband does?" Jeremy tried again to keep the mood light, but Kevin needled at Jean as sharply as Jean did Kevin.
"No, I'm saying I know Kevin better than he knows himself. She said to get fucked, and that's what you need. You don't even realize you want it to be Jeremy, but I think any one of us would do."
