Lan Wangji seemed absolutely content with the new, simple life he lived in the Cloud Recesses with Wei Wuxian. He had a comfortable routine : studying, practicing the guqin, meditating, spending quality time with his brother, Lan Sizhui and Wei Wuxian, and maybe going on a trivial night hunt once in a while.

“What’s all this?”
A new voice cuts through the general merriment of the group. It’s light and casual and Lan Wangji sees the feet and legs of some of his tormentors turn in the direction of the voice. From the angle his head is at, he can’t see the newcomer at all. Blood loss and shock and pain are making his body heavy and his vision hazy and even his mind feels like it’s starting to slip away, yet even as far gone as he is he knows exactly to whom that voice belongs.
He would know that voice anywhere.
OR Lan Wangji is horrifically hurt during the sunshot campaign and when Wei Wuxian comes to his rescue /things/ end up coming out.

Summary
In order to appease the Wen, Yu Ziyuan cuts off Wei Wuxian's hand - in order to keep the supervisory office out of Lotus Pier, she hands him over to the Wen as a prisoner. In a desperate attempt to save his brother, Jiang Cheng teams up with Lan Wangji to plot a rescue - but what they don't realise is that whether they succeed or fail, their worlds will never be the same again.
An eventual fix-it featuring most of the cast, a lot of hurt/comfort, and a promised happy ending!
