Summary
His heart lurched, pulse thundering in his ears as he lowered his phone. He stared at her with wide, expectant eyes, silently praying for good news.
“He’s awake,” she said softly. “But… he’s having a very difficult time remembering anything.”
Xie Lian parted his lips, but no sound came out.
“We suspect that he may have lost the last five to six years of his memory,” the nurse continued, gesturing for Xie Lian to come with her.
OR: Hua Cheng was Xie Lian's best friend, his roommate... nothing more. When an accident happens, and Hua Cheng slips into a coma, Xie Lian realizes that "nothing more" has always been a lie.
The hospital has a strict policy: only immediate family members are permitted to enter. In a moment of desperation, Xie Lian lies and tells the nurse that he's Hua Cheng's fiancé.
The only problem? Hua Cheng wakes up and doesn't remember a thing. Xie Lian's shocked to find out that this version of his best friend is elated to be his soon-to-be husband.

The person who'd been unashamedly looking around the place shifted his gaze to the worker and froze, hardly believing what he was seeing. Trying to steady his suddenly uneven breathing, he answered, a bit flustered:
“Yeah.”

Summary
The group were taking their bows, but that man, the one that had completely captured Xie Lian's attention looked directly at him with the biggest toothy grin he'd ever seen. It wasn't the same seduction that had been displayed on that stage moments prior. It was something sweet and innocent, something that screamed of real, genuine joy in what he'd just done, and it made Xie Lian's heart clench with fondness.
When the attractive dancer bowed his head in Xie Lian's direction, looking up at him through his lashes, Xie Lian quickly turned back to the bar, taking his second drink of the night and gulping it down.
"Are you okay?" Shi Qingxuan asked, genuine concern in their voice. "You're blushing."
"I'm not," Xie Lian insisted, voice rasping and breath a little ragged from the alcohol. His head was already hazy and he carefully dropped into the chair beside Shi Qingxuan's before he could make more of a fool of himself. "It's hot in here."

Xie Lian's voice quivered, heavy with emotion. “I don’t wish to get you in trouble,” he whispered. “I only wish to not be alone. I’ve already resigned myself to loneliness for the rest of my days.”
With a sharp exhale, Hua Cheng rose to his feet, knocking lightly on the door before opening it.
Beyond the threshold, Xie Lian sat on the floor in his inner robes, eyes reddened with emotion, long hair cascading over his shoulders and back. He looked up at Hua Cheng with surprise before smiling softly.
Hua Cheng reached down, helping Xie Lian to his feet. “I will remain by the door inside of the bedchamber,” he whispered. “You are never alone for as long as we’re together.”
OR: Hua Cheng had spent years mastering the art of keeping people at a distance. A knight's blade was meant to be sharp and disciplined. His assignment was to deliver the Crown Prince of Xianle to the Kingdom of Wuyong where an arranged marriage would secure their political alliance; however, this task had become exceedingly more difficult after Hua Cheng meets Xie Lian.
