    It’s fitting, Will thinks, looking up at the pinned body of Miriam Lass, that her death would be the beginning of the end.

    Based on a writing prompt I saw:

    https://x.com/KaylaAncrum/status/1748613400010121444

    "Man who falls in love with a sphynx and solves her riddles daily, in spite of the threat to his life.
    The boon he requests every night is to sleep by her side in the warm sand and wake up safe. As he grows old, then forgetful, she reconfigures her riddles to accept any answer."

    I took this in my own direction.

    Summary

    Job 30:16-19
    And now my soul is poured out within me;
    days of affliction have taken hold of me.
    The night racks my bones,
    and the pain that gnaws me takes no rest.
    With violence it seizes my garment;
    it binds me about like the collar of my tunic.
    God has cast me into the mire,
    and I have become like dust and ashes.

    Will possesses magic. A Witch, with abilities and power in his soul beyond even his own comprehension. He is not just any run of the mill medium with a beat-up tarot deck and a muggy crystal ball. No, Will Graham is a Necromancer. More powerful than any who have come before him.

    Jack sees Will for what he is; a tool to communicate with the dead and solve murders. Will doesn’t know what to see himself as anymore - all he knows is that the darkness he fights to keep at bay is closing in.

    And when a certain Hannibal Lecter, Professor of Occult and Magic Studies, is consulted to help on the case, for the first time in his life the Dead become the least of Will’s worries.
