Summary
He’d recognise that face anywhere, it seemed, even thirty years in his past. The hair was longer than the man wore it now and pulled back in a low ponytail, but the features were the same; cheekbones that could cut glass, an aquiline nose and a brow that seemed permanently slightly furrowed.
Vetinari.
Vimes caught himself staring, and closed his mouth with a snap. And then, because he wasn’t an idiot, he slipped his hand into the pocket containing his new brass knuckles.
AU missing scene from Night Watch, in which Vetinari, ahem, introduces himself to John Keel.

Summary
Greg Lestrade receives a mysterious letter from his deceased grandfather's brother inviting Greg to come and visit him in South France since Greg is the only family the old man has left. Greg is suspicious at first so he asks "the only Holmes who would not make fun of him" for even considering this was not a fraud.
Mycroft is too distracted by the man himself to know better and not use MI6 resources to dig out information on "Alexandre Lestrade". Whose deceased wife just happens to have been a French intelligence agent. Mayhem insures when the French notice the breach.
Aka Mycroft decides he’s just gonna yyyyay in the background and let Greg save him from the mess they’ve created. Because Greg insists on protecting him. It also involves thoroughly snogging each other in front of an elderly DGSE lady

Summary
As a child, Sherlock had loved fairytales. The ones with adventures and dragons and happy endings. He'd loved that the villains always received ample punishment and the heroes lived eternally. Mycroft had them all memorised, so often had he read them to his little brother.
This is not a fairytale, though, because there are no villains and no heroes. There is only the story of a mathematician and a lawyer, of a politician, a detective and a doctor, of two little pirates and a brother and the east wind that did not quite take them all, in the end.
or.
The one in which Mycroft has to find a life beyond mere functionality.
[This is a post-season 4 fic and it is family story, but it is also a romance and a character study.]
