Shane Hollander has a problem - he's 22 and can't follow the plan; he was supposed to retire a Metro (they traded him), he was supposed to get married and have a family (his girlfriend keeps breaking up with him). Now he's in Boston and he's supposed to mentor an untamed 18 year old Ilya Rozanov, who is supposed to help them win the Cup if he can just behave (but he can't even seem to do that right, because his rookie wants to climb him like a tree).

When Scott Hunter ventured out on his balcony after the 2011 All Star Game, he only wanted to get some air. He didn't expect to overhear a couple of rookies having sex. He definitely didn't anticipate hearing his own name. But when Hollander catches him eavesdropping, Scott does the upstanding thing and offers his phone number in case the younger men ever have questions about being closeted hockey players. It's the least he can do, right? Anyway, he'll probably never get a text back.

Ilya had already been serving Shane long before they put a word to it.
So, naturally, when Shane presented the idea of a fully-written down, rules in place, 24/7 continuation of that dynamic, Ilya swore he felt his body ascending to another plane of being from pure joy. It sounded amazing; being Shane’s, being meant to serve him and him only.
And maybe Ilya was so overjoyed with that idea that he really wasn’t paying attention during the consequences portion of that conversation.

Or: The time inevitably comes for that daunting first punishment within Shane and Ilya’s newly established domestic dynamic. During the course of said punishment, Ilya learns about this thing called love and wellbeing, and how it coincides with discipline.

Summary
Chilchuck didn't think much of Laios Touden when he first saw him. He was a run-of-the-mill adventurer and Chilchuck had seen plenty of them before. Granted, he never met anyone quite like Laios before, but that was about it. The day they met was when he was hired to be this new party's picklock, a simple job that he could easily handle. He didn't think Laios was the type to be an effective leader and he didn't expect this group to last long.

Months pass before they become years and Chilchuck has become a permanent member of the most bizarre group of people he has ever met, yet Laios still tops that list as the weirdest. His attention keeps getting drawn to the Tallman, who always seems so respectful but then somehow manages to cause people trouble wherever he goes. Chilchuck just can't seem to figure him out. He can't stop thinking about how strange he is, how annoying he is, and how stupid it is that he can't stop staring at this attractive blond man who could lift him with one arm . . . Oh no.
Chilchuck, for the first time in his life, begins to fail at his number one rule for adventuring.
