“Oh, gosh not again.” That same voice from before comes through the haze. There’s a few footsteps coming closer and then “Armando are you-“ There’s a pause as the clicking and typing returns.
“You’re still-.. Oh, great. That’s awesome. Oh please don’t die on me.” Distress laces throughout the voice.
Why does the voice not want him to die? Does it really not want that?
Where the fuck is he?

When finally given the chance to choose how he lives, Simon has no real idea how to do that. After spending almost half of his life yearning for such a thing, he realizes he's never thought past the being alive part.

Summary
Two weeks after the disaster of a conference that was meant to be his academic victory run and the successful start of the rest of his life as a molecular biologist, Ryland Grace escapes to one of Washington’s state parks. Hiding away in his twin brother’s cabin, Ryland has to come to terms with the fact that the life he worked so hard for had slipped right through his fingers because his ego had been larger than his logical brain, and now he’s haunted by a community of scientists and online enthusiasts yearning to run what little is left of his dignity into the ground.
But as a hike, one fuelled mostly by spite because obviously he didn’t learn his lesson just yet, goes south, he’s forced to call the rangers for help. And because life hates him, the ranger who told him not to wander into the woods is the one to take his call.
Something about ranger Simon’s disapproving and definitely disappointed look cuts deeper than he anticipated.

Summary
The Eridians had made little sense of it when it was first detected, resonating from within an astrological body only a fragment of light years away that had—apparently, impossibly—not been there before. A crooked moon with no star, they’d said. No planet. And, from it, this little noise that had reached the Eridian transmitters, quick as a heartbeat. Staggering like a gasp of breath.
A sign of life, crying out into the universe for help.
And Dr. Ryland Grace, in all his cosmic stupidity, followed it.

Summary
There is not much these days that would surprise Ryland Grace, an expert on oceanic biology and one of the world's leading figures in marine genetics. Or so he thought, until his entire world is shaken by the biggest marine discovery in the past century; Merfolk are real. Or, to be precise, at least one of them is. Grace is looking right at him.
In all his life, Grace has never seen something, no, someone so breathtaking. He doubts he ever will again. Suddenly, he finds himself indescribably protective of this creature, this man, captive in front of him. The world is not ready to witness someone like him—nor could it ever deserve to.
Or about how Simon is a bloodnymph and Grace is a little monster-loving freak first, and a scientist second.
