Summary
Kalim had dreams. Perhaps she shouldn’t have—as an heiress of the Al Asim family, dreams and desires that went beyond what was expected of her were absurd.
But, foolish and hopeful, Kalim dreamed of a beautiful future. Together with the person she loved most, smiling in the arms of someone who loved her as much as she loved them.
Kalim dreamed of love. Perhaps that was her worst mistake—thinking she had a right to it.
The right to love someone of the same gender. But of course, as an heiress, she never had that right.
Still, she looks out the window, hoping that golden-haired girl will come and take her away from that church, carry her far away, and steal her from the world like a precious treasure.
But the girl never comes, and Kalim must face the consequences.

Summary
Rook wanted to love. Even if it were just for a moment, even if it were just for an instant, Rook longed to love the same way the people around him did.
Love, from everything Rook had seen, was something pure, delicate, and unbreakable. It was something ancient, like a song passed down through generations—a melody known to everyone who had ever lived, who lives now, and who will one day live. Something so essential to existence that, regardless of its origin, everything that was alive knew love.
Everything that lived deserved to feel loved—this was something Rook was absolutely certain of, even though he was so young. He wanted to feel that, to have that for himself, to be loved and to love completely and devotedly, just like in the movies he would watch.
But his greatest tragedy, his greatest weakness—the thing he hid beneath a forced accent and rehearsed smiles—was that Rook Hunt was simply incapable of loving.
Until the day he wasn’t.

Hanahaki
The most famous illness to ever be described. Full of tales of tragedy and sacrifice.
An incurable condition, completely and undeniably impossible to survive without having to give up all you hold dear. Like choosing between a knife and a gun, one ends your pain faster, but the other gives you a tiny chance to live another day.
With all this poetry, full of beautiful words and attempts at pseudo-depth, there is one thing Kalim could say.
The legend of Hanahaki was a big lie. It wasn't about unrequited love, but about the original individual feeling incapable of being loved in the same way, it was never the other person's fault but their own for their exaggerated love.
They simply had to stop being in love. That was how he survived two cases of hanahaki, without telling a single soul.
Until the third case came along, and he couldn't stop being in love.

Lukewarm water spread across the floor, slowly turning pink as blood dripped steadily from the cut across his palm. Fragments of porcelain glittered beneath the dim kitchen lights while faint traces of unstable magic crackled weakly in the air.
The silence in the kitchen felt almost mocking.
Once, shattered porcelain would have mended itself before the first shard reached the floor. The water would have obeyed him, boiling instantly. The cut would never have existed.
Instead, he stood perfectly still while his own blood dripped into weak, cold tea.
