Summary
“Haven’t you heard, gege? There’s ghosts about.” Jing Yuan lets his voice drop, as if that’ll hide the undercurrent of laughter in it. “Roaming the gardens, eager to feast on any passerby who wanders too close.”
Dan Feng stares at him for a long moment, expressionless.
“Ghosts,” he says softly. “Is that so?”
“They say,” Jing Yuan continues, trailing fingertips down his chest, chasing droplets, “that when it rains, you can hear a guqin playing on its own on this very peak. That there’s strange ripples in the water. That a spirit dressed in white sings to the moon when it’s full.” He tilts his head, peeking up at him through silver strands. “That on some nights, you can hear the most frightening sounds drifting down to the pavilions—as if some poor soul is being devoured.”
Or: It is commonly known that, when the moon is full and the skies are clear, Fyxestroll Garden is where lovers go to rendezvous in secret.

Summary
Dan Heng immediately regretted speaking the second he was met with the wide-eyed, surprised looks from the rest of the crew.
It had been impulsive on his part. They had a moment of downtime, no immediate next destination. The others were discussing where to go, potential resupply locations, when Dan Heng’s internal filter failed him;
“Could we go to the Luofu?”
In which Dan Heng innocently suggests going back to the Luofu, but horribly miscalculates when.

Summary
Sylvain reaches over from his cot to clumsily pat Felix on the arm. “Well anyway, don’t worry about it. If you’re looking for somebody interested, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding them. Anybody would wanna deflower you.”
Felix doesn’t mean to say it, is the thing. He means to tell Sylvain to fuck off, colorfully, for his use of the word “deflower.” He means to tell him that he’s not worried, shut up. He means, more than anything else, to get them to drop this subject and never pick it back up again.
Instead, for some fucking reason, he opens his mouth and asks: “Would you?”

Summary
Before he notices, Jing Yuan is holding out a skewer with that same fried sweetbread Stelle had tricked March into eating pierced on its end.
“You looked like you really wanted to try it.”
“Oh.” Had he been that obvious? Flustered, Dan Heng looks down at the containers in his arms, calculating how best to rearrange things in order to free up a hand. “Give me a moment.”
“No need.”
Then, casual as anything, Jing Yuan brings the skewer up to his lips. Dan Heng freezes.
They’re in public, is his first thought. Not in the busier main street, thankfully, but even so. He could practically see the headlines now. Luofu’s general spotted with mystery lover!!
They weren’t even dating.
