For as long as Harry could remember, he hadn't been able to see—or at least, not fully. He could make out the silhouettes of people and objects, but nothing more; it was as if everything were a crisp, blank sketch. He could do things some blind people couldn't—like recognizing someone by their silhouette or walking without fear of falling—but he could never appreciate the beauty of a landscape, a person, or even a simple book. He knew it wasn't the worst fate—there were people even more blind than he was—but he wanted to see more; he wanted to be more.
He had always known he was strange because of this, but upon discovering that magic actually existed—and that he was a powerful wizard—the only thing he could wonder was why he was so odd.
He also wondered why people couldn't stop asking him what had happened to him.
Technically, this is an AU where Harry Potter can only see people's auras, meaning everything else appears as simple, blank silhouettes he can never quite identify. Many things change—Houses, bonds, and even people and ideals.

Harry's distant past held terror, the recent past trauma. Another year at Hogwarts was merely a reprieve, not a solution, assuming he made it back there.
A tiny, pitiful-looking creature with an irritating voice showed up at Harry's door, warning that Hogwarts wasn't safe. Still, Harry preferred a bad day at Hogwarts Castle over the best day ever at 4 Privet Drive.
And Aina, Harry's girlfriend, was on Headmaster Dumbledore's last nerve. He knew it was her scheme that had resulted in the death of a professor. She knew the only reason why he'd covered it up was because Harry was prophesied to defeat Lord Voldemort once and for all. Dumbledore would bend every rule to protect Harry for the greater good, but if she put another toe out of line, she'd be booted out of Hogwarts before you could say Petrificus Totalus.
So her evil scheme was to convince Dumbledore she had turned over a new leaf. She was a good girl now. Honest!
