Ilya can’t believe he once went nearly a decade without crying. The dam is so thoroughly busted now that it only takes a stiff breeze to blow it back open. He’s far closer to it now than he would like. “No. I think also maybe you did get to meet my Mama.”
“Ilya…What are you talking about?”
Ilya loves spending time with Shane's parents, and he's looking forward to dinner and an evening of looking at Shane's baby pictures, however they are going to bring back memories for more than just the Hollanders.

Summary
The first time they’d done this, in Ilya’s bed, Shane had been mystified at Rozanov’s insistence that he not enter the nest without Shane’s permission. Now, Shane feels something akin to smugness flexing its claws in his chest. A primal satisfaction at the rightness that he is the one with the power - at present, if not for much longer - alpha just outside the nest and at his mercy.
Like Shane will only yield for someone who has earned it. He can draw out Ilya’s suffering just a little longer, make him earn it.
Shane rakes his gaze over the delicious chest and bicep muscles bunching above the edge of the nest. “Waiting for something, Rozanov?”
“Are you going to let me into your nest, omega?” His pronunciation of the endearment is more Russian than English, accent thickening around the syllables.
“Depends. You gonna give me your knot?”
“Hm, does not sound like begging yet to me.”
Some months after Shane recovers from rejection sickness in Ilya's bed, they share their heat/rut together at the cottage, both clinging to the delusion it's still casual.

Ilya stood up again, resuming his endless pacing around the room, “You never do it on purpose.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You always say you are sorry. But you never stop doing it. I move to shitty team, I get upset at shitty team and you feel guilty, you say sorry but you don’t understand when I complain.” He was raising his voice again and his grasp on English was getting worse by the minute.
“That’s not fair.”
“You say you are sorry about my family but then you do not understand what I have to say when we talk about families! It’s always your mom is too pressing or too worried. Guess what Shane! I do not have a mom to press me!”or
Shane accidentally breaks something important for Ilya. Instead of reacting like he usually would, Ilya, already tired from a part argument, starts shouting at him eveything he's ever been upset about. Shane can't stand it and finds himself safe wording out of the argument. Fluff ensues.
