Summary
The devil is not what Alastor imagined.
He’s short, for one, and strangely doll-like. A porcelain doll given life, looking back at Alastor with glowing red-and-gold eyes. Just enough like a person to be both familiar and unsettling at once, and not even remotely in keeping with the imagery Alastor has seen all his life.
But all of that pales in comparison to the conundrum of his personality.
Or: Alastor tries to sell his soul to Lucifer. It does not go as planned.

Summary
This is how it happens.
Alastor wakes in the dead of night. He was on his own when he went to bed, but as consciousness returns to his waking mind he becomes aware, slowly and then all at once, that he is no longer alone.
His companions are unexpected, but not unwelcome, once Alastor gets used to the idea.

Lucifer Morningstar will die by Alastor’s hand.
How Alastor will accomplish this feat is unclear, but it's the only reasonable course of action. He never intended to end up in this situation and it really can't be allowed to go on.

They made a deal, when Lucifer first careened into Alastor's life, but for what Alastor can no longer entirely recall. Power, perhaps, or freedom. A glimpse of eternity reflected in Lucifer's eyes. And when he finally asks for something in return, Alastor is ready to uphold his end of the bargain.
