Because there’s always been a sort of separation of church and state, if you will. For years now. George is church. John is state. And ne’er the twain shall meet.

Or, George and Paul sleeping together in 1968, and the conversation that ensued, permanently changed the trajectory of the Beatles. But what happens when the (still together) Beatles decide to go on tour in 1974 and John and George have to navigate the reality of having to share Paul with each other?

Summary
The whole press conference had been like this. John had complained he was growing bored of answering the same questions over and over, so Ringo should’ve guessed the next step was to create his own entertainment. The man had practically enraptured the audience, for better or worse. Mostly worse, considering they weren’t even answering questions at this point.
Paul had tried to reel him back in, but John was nothing if not stubborn. The bassist eventually gave up. And with George only egging him on, it left Ringo to smooth things over.

Paul wracked his mind. John’s temper was predictable, to him at least. He’d blow up for a bit, hate the world for an hour or two, then calm down and feel embarrassed afterwards, sometimes for days. Paul could handle that. Paul had been handling that for years. But George was a whole different story. Paul couldn’t talk him down, it would only make him angrier. He’d need to act.
