Summary
What can spice up a planetary survey better than your usual large predatory fauna? Why, how about a considerable amount of small invertebrate fauna covering everything on sight with sticky fibrils - including the lenses of drones that give you sight to begin with?
Also some idiot had failed to load the additional crate of resupply fluids for the MedSys that the PresAux survey had specifically requested.
All in all, not a great day to be Murderbot. Though not the worst one, either.

The recording starts in a wave of noise interference and a rhythmic sound of what was presumably running machinery on worksite. Then - unintelligible through the artifacts of the recording - vocalization from several people, arguing about something, trying to overshout the equipment. The noise suddenly levels out, leaving only some grounding thumps and hissing on the background.
Then someone begins singing.

>It is much less sparing in the feed. My SecUnit pings and taps and speaks so much more freely there, and it allows me to wrap myself around it, wind my way into its inputs, and lean against it as much as I like. It leans in, too, and shoves and pulls at me when I do not do what it wants. I like that it is willing to do so. I like that it trusts me, and that the fear from our first meeting has long vanished.

And that's before it finds out how much Mensah paid to free it, and wants to pay her back.
