Summary
Jack learns about Andrew in fits both fast and slow: a dump of stories told across the kitchen table at nine in the morning over just the leftover flakes of croissants, or unintentionally catching the last clipped sentences of a phone call to someone named Amy. Andrew protects his weak spots with bloody fists but there's a soreness in his eyes that Jack identifies as a yearning to not have to at all.
Jack relays what he learns to Robby in shared moments as they walk to PTMC before sunrise or in low tones over spaghetti and meatballs at Mama Rosa's Italian Kitchen. Andrew's story doesn't seem like one that should be told under the joyful gaze of the sun. It doesn't seem like the kind of story that anyone could rightly survive.
Andrew moves in, Robby is hunted for sport, and Jack gets an A+ in therapy.

Summary
Robby grits his teeth. “Ellis is a fellow.” Jack doesn’t need any more background right now, Robby tells himself.
Jack blinks. “What the hell, man? Don’t fuck with me. What year is it?”
The confusion in Jack’s big green eyes makes a lump form in Robby’s throat. He lets Jack keep holding his hand. “It’s 2026,” Robby says, as gentle as he can.
The muscles in Jack’s jaw clench. “Well, fuck.”
