Jin Zixuan flinched, thoroughly deserving the incredulous look shot in his direction. His hands curled around the peony-embroidered fabric of his robe, but he refused to glance away from Wei Wuxian's piercing stare. Both of them were seated inside the jingshi, a tray of tea slowly cooling away and untouched.
Jin Zixuan was not a man to beg for anything, but for this? He grit his teeth and continued: "Father intends to either marry Xuanyu off to the next-best beggar with enough money to give or throw him onto the streets like a disgrace and stain upon his robes. Wei Wuxian, do you think I don't know what I'm asking of you? There is no-one else I trust!"
