If love is something you seep into gradually – like wading out into the water and not noticing how deep you are till you’re watching bubbles rise to the sunlit surface – or if love is something that happens suddenly, like getting hit by a car or struck by lightening.

The door opens sharply and Foggy drops the paint swatches with a yelp. He turns to see Matt in the doorway. “Jesus, Murdock, are you trying to give me a heart attack? The only benefit for that is that lots of people find grief sexy for some reason so you’d clean right up.” Matt’s breathing heavy, Foggy realizes. “Did you run up all those stairs? We have an elevator now.”
“Yeah,” Matt says, breathing heavy, eyes so wide he can see them around his sunglasses.

Summary
It didn’t take too long to fall in love with Foggy.
In fact, it took all of two months. The thing was just that Foggy was the best thing to ever happen to Matt. He was kindness and warmth and laughter, and even if living with him took (a lot of) adjusting, two months in Matt caught himself wondering what it would be like to kiss Foggy.
But Foggy wasn’t his, he wasn’t dating Foggy, he had absolutely no right to feel like this just because Foggy had found somebody to date.

Summary
“How’s this,” Foggy finally says. “When you think you’re healed up enough to go out again, you let me know so I can stay at your place that night.”
Matt opens his mouth to respond, then closes it again, considering. “Won’t that be the least restful time to crash at my apartment?”
“Objectively yes,” Foggy agrees. “But you’re missing the tradeoff: every night that I sleep at home before then, I’ll do it knowing that you’re not out getting your ass kicked.”
Matt and Foggy establish a new routine. It involves a lot of crashing on Matt's couch.
