Summary
“Do you think I’ll ever be able to do it?”
“Do what, Jeongguk?”
“Write a best-seller.”
“I know you will.”
Jimin’s smile was so full of certainty that Jeongguk didn’t dare to doubt him. After all, Jimin always seemed to know something Jeongguk didn’t.
In the summer of 2009, Jimin gifted him a fountain pen. It was jet black, with gold accents on the nib and his initials neatly engraved on the barrel.
He used that pen to sign his first book deal, a bright grin on his face that, to any bystanders unaware of what had just happened, must have looked like a lottery winner's smile.
Six months later, he used the same pen to sign the lease for his new house, after Jimin kindly asked him to pack everything he owned and leave their shared, shoebox-sized apartment.
Jeongguk lost that pen in the first month of 2019, when Jimin decided to walk back into his life.
