The two watch in horrified silence as this stranger punches his big brother across the jaw, sending him careening to the floor. He stays there, unmoving, for an agonizing, excruciating moment. Then this– this fucker drags Ry onto his knees and lances his fingers into his scalp, tugging him by the hair so that he has a good look at his face.
When he shoves Ryland’s head into the water basin, Colt starts seeing red.
He thinks about the last text Ry sent him. He thinks about the three dropped calls from last night. He thinks about someone hurting his brother—his brother—and suddenly he can’t breathe.

The man lying in front of her looks like Six. Almost exactly like him, actually. But there are hairline differences that she's only really seeing now that he's close. He's big, but not particularly muscular. He's wearing a shirt with Snoopy on it. When she checks his mostly bare arms, she finds none of the scars or tattoos she made a careful study of during the few days she knew him.
She also realizes where she knows the divets on his nose from; her uncle has the exact same thing when he takes his reading glasses off and kisses her head goodnight.
He's not Six. She has no idea who this is.
"What the fuck." Claire whispers.

The door opens.
Claire chokes. Ryland is standing there in blue PJ pants and an oversized PBS t-shirt. He's rubbing his eyes, which are missing his glasses, which makes it even more obvious how similar they look. When his hand falls away, Six watches him process what is standing at his door. His eyes go from Six, down to Claire, then back up to Six.
He laughs, high and stressed, then closes the door in their face.
OR, Six needs help taking care of Claire after they break free from their respective jails. He decides that his younger brother Ryland Grace is the solution.
