It’s a truth he long ago accepted. If Obi-Wan were to descend into the darkness then Anakin would have no choice, but to follow. He knows that is not the Jedi way, but there are some things Anakin could care less about when it comes to choosing Obi-Wan.
And if that makes him less of a Jedi then so be it.
“Anakin.” Obi-Wan sighs.
“Don’t pretend.” Anakin nearly begs. “Not now, please.”

Summary
Sidious felt his eyes widen despite himself as his attention focused back on Anakin. He was saying something about how he wished to propose to Amidala on their little vacation mission and be married on Naboo. Sidious tried to recover before Anakin noticed, but it seemed luck was not on his side as he tilted his head up, almost challenging Sidious to say something.
“Well?”
Sidious could almost hear his blood pressure rising. He’d known that Anakin had harbored a crush on Amidala since he was a small child, and had even encouraged it quite a few times. Their relationship would make it easier to manipulate the Jedi’s Chosen One against the Jedi and turn him to the Dark Side when the time came. Sidious just hadn’t expected his plans coming to fruition to taste so… bitter.

He is undeniably, horrifically, extremely attached to Anakin Skywalker. Whether he ever directly faces it or not, Obi-Wan is aware of it on some level. He knows it because he indulges Anakin. He indulges him, probably far too much. At least that's what he suspects anyone else would say, if they found out he fucks his former apprentice for most of the war, because Anakin wants it. Needs it. Asks for it. And Obi-Wan gives Anakin everything he possibly can. Even if it risks destroying them both. Even if he is flagrantly violating the Jedi Code.

There were times in war where the terror sneaked up on you; breaking through the cracks that appeared along the fortification, streaming into the water to poison the well that you drew from day in and day out in order to survive. One moment you were fine and the next you weren't - terror would sneaking in, insidious and all consuming, wiping away that carefully maintained sense of invulnerability.
For Obi-Wan it was watching Anakin stumble off the side of an embankment during a bloody fight. One moment he was there, the blue glow of his blade highlighting the sharp grin on his features, and the next he was just gone.
