“We got it,” Frank says, his deep voice booming through the room. He slaps the map down on the bar and it echos so loud that some of the others poke their heads in. “We got a way in.”
Karen and Matt exchange a look, and he’s ready to ask how that’s possible. They’ve spent weeks trying and failing to figure out how to covertly breach AVTF ground-zero. But he can feel the energy radiating off Frank as a rare grin stretches wide across his face.
“We’ve got a way in?” Karen asks, shifting toward Frank.
“Goddamn right we do,” he says, locking eyes with her. “This plan’s gonna work."
The plan goes to shit almost immediately.

A trickle of ice water drips down his spine. He marks the gun on his hip, the blade in his pocket. His brain begins to whirl, remembering the face of the man in the doorway. “Someone answered the door. He said she didn’t live there anymore.”

A ghost of Karen’s past shows up to get revenge, and Frank owns up to his feelings for her just in time.
