“Go on then,” he said. His tongue flicked out to wet his lips. “Explain to me why Penelope Featherington is not getting satisfactorily railed on the regular, because I’ve never been able to work it out.”
The way he said her name - Penelope fucking Featherington - was thrilling. It made her feel powerful.
“I just want someone to hold me down and make me take it. They can focus on their orgasm, and I can worry about my own. I guess they call it free use.” She tried to sound nonchalant, as if she didn’t know that was exactly what it was called.
There was a pause and then: “Fuck,” he mumbled, and they both watched as Colin’s video game character got brutally eviscerated on the screen. GAME OVER flashed up in big red letters.

“Mr Bridgerton? Colin?”
He almost did not recognise her. She looked very different — pretty red curls bobbed fashionably; cheeks and lips stained with a little rouge; a day dress in a lovely mauve colour that made her eyes seem bluer, somehow — but it was her scent that threw him off. Now that he thought about it, he could not quite recall what Penelope Featherington actually smelled like (he had not seen her in years, after all). She was so often at Bridgerton House that all he could summon was the same lilac smell that his mother and his siblings bore, but of course there must be other notes he was forgetting.
Still, he was fairly certain she had never smelled like this: vetiver and geranium, sharp and green and floral.
Not a bad smell by any means — just not Penelope’s. Even though he could not recall her scent, he knew certainly this was not it. She must be wearing perfume. It befuddled him so much that he realised he had been staring at her silently for a lot longer than was polite, especially for an old family friend he had not seen in ages.

He didn’t like to admit it, but the truth was he’d always had a thing for her boobs. It started a couple of years before the Yellow Bra Incident, back when Penelope had just turned thirteen and started growing them. Which, of course, coincided with Colin, at the time fifteen-going-on-sixteen, becoming obsessed with breasts. Not hers in particular, just breasts in general, but… well, Penelope was a little plump. Which meant her budding breasts were a little plump as well. She had developed earlier and faster than his sister, who remained a beanpole for many years yet.
He was very good at compartmentalising, it turned out.
Pen was his little sister’s bestie, yes; but Pen’s breasts were an entirely different thing altogether.
