Her wild halo of curls always seemed to be disappearing around the corner as he walked the stone corridors of the castle, trailing a lavender and mint fragrance that seemed to cling to his robes and burrow into his brain. He avoided the library, once a favorite refuge, and took to owl-ordering any books he didn’t already own, because she was sure to be set up at whichever table was nearest the aisle he needed. She would have piles of books spread across the entirety of the surface of the table, stacks of them on the chairs, her fingers smudged with ink, her brow furrowed and her bottom lip pinned between her teeth. She would not look up if he walked by.

Summary
Hermione has been living in America—healing from the war, brewing potions that aren't totally legal, and not thinking about a certain potions master who is very much alive. She's definitely not thinking about how he comforted her after the war, or how they spent one night together before he told her to move on and stop writing to him. Nope. Not thinking about that at all.
Now she’s back in London with a secret: She’s dying, and honestly, she’d rather no one made a big fuss about it. She just wants to use the time she has left to mend what the war broke, to say the goodbyes she owes, and, okay, reinforce the illegal potions operation she's running with, of all people, Draco Malfoy.
Unfortunately, the Ministry has other plans. They're challenging her competency, reopening old wounds and digging up grievances, like that time she may have threatened to kill Sirius. A dying woman with no next of kin makes an easy target. So she'll just have to solve that "no next of kin" problem, won't she?
Enter Severus Snape—a man with plenty of practice at lying and scheming. But as the scheme gets more complicated, how long will they be able to keep lying to themselves about what they're definitely not feeling?
