Summary
Toothless has worked as hired security during dragon raids for the last couple years—well, he got paid to protect some buildings and some farms whenever the dragons attacked. It was the only way he could currently pay the town back for their kindness of feeding and housing him, so he didn't say no when Bandit, the local blacksmith, asked him to watch the forge during the next raid. Someone had been taking advantage of the chaos to steal materials, and it was his job to stop them.
Toothless realizes he might be in way over his head when he actually lays eyes on the thief.

Of course Ilya had known that Shane would come back but it was gratifying, still, the text from Jane, Can we meet up when you’re here tomorrow, I don’t care where. I really need to see you. The intimation, probably accidental, that Shane was so very desperate he was open to the idea of Ilya fucking him in the street.
