Fear slipped from her ribs and fell to her stomach.
She sucked in a shaky breath. "I'm sorry-"
Mira wasn't born angry, but any animal backed into a corner learned to bite eventually.

Rumi swivels her head to the side and waves her hand before she quickly mouths, ‘Mira do not fuck me over here’.
‘Mira’ is the incredibly tall alien rock with a carapace made out of rainbow lattice sunstone, is vaguely shaped like a crab-spider, five legs and all, and she hates Rumi more than Rumi could possibly fathom. She had drifted aimlessly in space for days before she was approached by the Blip-A—Mira’s ship—and was effectively taken hostage within her own ship.
(or, captain ryu rumi meets aerospace engineer eridian mira in the depths of space with all hope seeming lost for the two of them; or, microbiologist eridian zoey is absolutely fucking not letting her mate die in space, maybe hijacks a spaceship to ensure that doesn't happen, and gets a little more than what she bargained for in the process)

When Mira's name is chosen to be sent to the demon king as his bride, she knew it was a death sentence. Gwi-Ma was known to devour souls, and she knew he would devour hers.
But when she's taken to meet the demon king...
Mira looked up to see his face— "Oh!" For the second time tonight, Mira was startled to see a young woman's face. The demon king wasn't a king at all. She was a demon queen. Her eyes were a soft brown, though when she stepped into the light, they reflected with a golden hue. The tiger striped patterns were on her face and neck too. She wasn't human, that was for certain.
But she didn't seem dangerous either.
