Summary
Maybe it was lack of sleep and just overall exhaustion that caused him to speak before his brain could catch up with his mouth. He thought, what’s the worst thing that could happen if I lie to Tad and say that Ronan is my boyfriend? Obviously Adam didn’t come up with a definitive answer to this question, so he decided that there was no harm in lying to Tad earlier that day.
In other words, Adam and Ronan are fake dating and Ronan definitely wants to play along.

Adams trying to move his hips in a rhythm with Ronan’s hand, but Ronan doesn’t have a rhythm, he’s just feeling. He’s feeling the most intimate part of Adam, finding the most sensitive parts of him, what makes his breath hitch, what makes his muscles spasm.-----------------------
Adam feels the intensity of this moment and kisses Ronan, trying to make him feel what he’s feeling, how tight his chest is. All too quickly, Adam is pulling away and his face goes out of Ronans line of view.

Adam has no idea what is going on right now, but he holds Ronan as tight as he can. He realizes that he doesn’t ever want to let Ronan go, wants to stay like this holding him for as long as he can. Adam feels a slight tightness in his chest at the thought of never feeling this moment again.

Ronan didn't like sharing. He was protective over Gansey when Adam joined the group. At first he was jealous of Adam because he was the new focus of all of Gansey’s affection. Adam was like the new hot girl of the group, all shiny and interesting. Later on when Ronan realized that he was rather fond of Adam, he became jealous in a different sort of way. He was no longer battling for Ganseys attention, but for Adams. However, Ronan was slow to realize his feelings for Adam. The feelings were there but he would push them down and out of his mind as best he could until he didn't even realize what he was feeling. All he knew was that he felt a different sort of protectiveness over Adam. He wanted to help his friend in whatever way possible. This was a difficult task because Adam Parrish was no one’s charity case

“It was too much.” Andrew says, and Neil doesn’t understand what he’s talking about.
“We don’t have to do it again. You know I don’t care what we do or even if we do anything at all. You don’t have to do anything you aren’t comfortable doing.” Neil says, assuming that the fact that it was more than usual was bothering Andrew.
“No, idiot.” Andrew says, finally looking over at Neil, an unreadable, new expression on his face. “You. It was too much for you.” Andrew finally says, and Neil’s eyebrows shoot up at that statement.
OR
Neil has no idea what he likes sex-wise and figures something out about himself. Andrew thinks he went too far, and they decide to figure out what Neil likes together.

None of this was new to them yet, but it still felt momentous because this was a Neil who was his, who’d let him claim him in front of his family and his teammates, who’d been wearing his clothes and his marks for months on end now and who was delighted at the thought of Andrew wanting a future with him permanently, semantically synonymous with forever, a much too scary word for now, but maybe not in the future.

Andrew’d never thought he could have something like that, hadn’t really planned to make it past thirteen and now here he was, he was an adult, he was safe, he was in his own bed in his own home with a man who would quite literally die for him, who he was planning a future with. It doesn't take long for Neil to join him on the roof, his face lighting up when he sees him. Neil settles next to him, close enough that Andrew can feel his body heat without touching. Neil's wearing the hoodie he pilfered from Andrew's closet a few months ago; he feels his eyes catch on it a little too long. He forces his eyes away, but he leans closer until their shoulders brush. Neil takes it for the invitation it is, leaning most of his weight into Andrew's side.
"So, what is this?" He pulls the dog clicker from his pocket, still in its plastic packaging.
Andrew's hand ghosts over Neil's covered hip, fiddling with the waistband of his egregious shorts. "Don't ask questions with obvious answers," he retorts.
He slips his hand beneath fabric to reach bare skin, grounding himself with the familiar raised skin. "I want to-" The words get stuck in his throat.
Aggravated with himself, Andrew squeezes Neil's hip hard enough to hurt, but Neil only blinks slowly at him, not a hint of expectation on his face. "I would like to be louder. With you," Andrew forces out spitefully.
"Oh," Neil says surprised, "Like when we-?"
"When we fuck," Andrew says shortly.
