“What?” his vixen of a wife says innocently, taking a sip from her goblet of wine. “There are worse things in the world than having a man who looks like that owe you one.”

Summary
"Can I tell you something?" Buck slurs drunkenly, leaning into Eddie's space on the couch.
This is not an unusual position for them to be in, attached at the hip after Buck got over his weird pissing contest that first shift. But they're both so drunk that personal space doesn't exist.
"Sure, Buck," Eddie snorts.
"I just see you as one of the guys, you know. You're like a guy to me!" Buck smirks.
But something zings through him, bravery lighting him on fire. If there's one person he should be able to tell, it's Buck.
"It's because I am," Eddie tells him, trying to speak normally.
"Huh?" Buck squints at him. "No, you're a lesbian."
Eddie purses his lips, shakes his head. "Nope. I'm a man, Buck."
Buck sits with this for a minute, just mulling it over in his fuzzy brain. "Wait," he finally says. "You're…trans?"
Eddie nods again, unsure exactly how Buck is taking this. But the anxiety melts immediately when Buck breaks out into a huge, sunshine grin.
Or: Eddie gets top surgery and Buck helps him through it. Too bad Buck has a boyfriend.

Eddie sighed again and brought a hand to his face. "I had a nightmare that Chris got his girlfriend pregnant, and I became a grandfather at thirty-four years old," he said more clearly.
Buck froze. "Oh," he replied. He let go of Eddie's arms and crossed his own over his chest. He clenched his jaw, trying not to laugh.
Eddie squinted his eyes at Buck and pouted. "You wanna laugh, don't you?"
"No," Buck lied.
