Summary
Far, far away from the sietches of Arrakis or the halls of Caladan, Kaitain, or Giedi Prime, there is a small, backwater moon where the main things of note are livestock exports and an unimportant Bene Gesserit chapterhouse.
Initiate Yakoba Herstal is a struggling student and is worried about her inevitable meeting with the Gom Jabbar. Unfortunately Proctor Myuller, one of her teachers (and one with an abnormally high body count) has now taken an interest in training her directly. Maryam, Yakoba's cellmate, is an uptight, quiet noble-born whose status– and the plots around her– precede her even here. And their friend Borte is, well... Borte.
In their own ways, these three girls are drawn into political machinations and generational drama far above and beyond the more mundane dangers of surviving to Novice Sister status.

Summary
In 10190 A.G., a new crop of Bene Gesserit students was dropped into the claws of the Sisterhood at a remote chapterhouse. One new initiate is the tiny fourteen-year-old Maryam Atreides, eldest daughter of Duke Leto by concubine and future mother of the Kwisatz Haderach. Her arrival begins to warp both the faculty and student body with plots, intrigues, and nostalgia.
And less than a week later, she is put in detention for fistfighting another student over a "matter of honor," as befits her father's daughter.
(AU where Jessica didn't have a son. Standalone prequel novella to my fic Of Mind-Killers and Little-Deaths.)

What would Frank Herbert have written in Dune 7, truly?
I longed for a classic, "heady" tale that would echo Frank's writing style and themes, and weaved its way through the giant questions that Heretics and Chapterhouse left unanswered. It started with a character exploration and turning upside down some of the concepts of the book, and it quickly evolved into a multi-planet, multi-plot story that follows are most beloved characters (Miles Teg, Murbella, Sheeana, Duncan Idaho) as well as a cast of new ones.Depending on what you define canon, this is a canon continuation (wrt Frank) or a canon alternative (wrt Brian's books).
What will happen to Leto's unnumerable atoms of awareness spread into the Scattering on rag-tag Bene Gesserit ships? What is going on with Marty and Daniel? What is Duncan Idaho? And so on...
