Summary
After Michael goes AWOL, Discovery divorces Starfleet. Enterprise is deployed to the Federation-Gorn border to defend colonies against Gorn incursions. An emergency transmission from Cayuga takes the flagship to Parnassus Beta, then the front lines of a war with the Gorn. Just when it seems like things can't get any worse, Gabriel Lorca returns, bringing the Terran fleet with him.
"There's been a four-hundred-percent increase in Gorn incursions," Pike told La'an. "Border colonies have been advised to contact us if they have any suspicion they're going to be targeted - but the war knocked out a substantial portion of our ships that were capable of handling the creatures. There's a fair chance Starfleet may not be able to defend a colony in imminent danger. We need all the resources we can get. That's why Command attempted not to alienate Discovery's crew with Michael's removal. Discovery is a Starfleet vessel. They can't AWOL."
"Enterprise is a Starfleet vessel. Discovery's loyalty is to Starfleet principles, not Starfleet itself."
"We've been instructed to convince Discovery to return."
She confidently assured, "They're never coming back."
