Summary
Long ago, humans and the Ezakis fought a war that nearly destroyed both races. At Lake Avalon, their kings finally swore peace before the sacred sword in stone, beginning the Age of Hazar.
Years later, Uther Pendragon rose to power and shattered that peace. Desperate, humanity turned to Lake Avalon once more. The lake revealed Magic, and a colossal wall was raised between humans and the Ezakis.
The spell could never break, the gate could never open, and humanity’s secret had to remain hidden. Yet another power was born that day—Merlin.

“You bring only chaos,” Merlin said. “You’ll never reach that library or that lake.”
Arthur laughed and stepped closer.
“Your kind only knows how to kneel, Merlin. Have you ever knelt before anyone?”
Merlin’s blue eyes shone in the torchlight, fearless.
Instead, he smiled.
“No,” he whispered. “But if you want to show me…”
Magic stirred beneath his skin.
“Then don’t hesitate to try.”
And in that moment, only one thing was certain:
Someone would kneel.
Neither of them yet knew who it would be.

“So what was your plan then? Seduce me? Manipulate me with your disgusting magic? Kill my father and then get yourself some… insurance in case I found out?” Arthur spat the word like it was filth incarnate. “How long have you known you were pregnant?”
When a desperate Arthur tells Merlin he’s willing to use magic to save his dying father, Merlin doesn’t hesitate. Unbeknownst to either of them, Morgana and Agravaine have already taken steps to ensure that Uther dies. When Merlin’s magic fails, any hope of Arthur embracing his gift dies with Uther.
Arthur abandons Merlin despite his pregnancy, and leaves him to rot in one of Camelot’s many towers. But even locked in a cage, Merlin faces constant danger and must find a way to escape his fate.

The man was beautiful. Hair as gold as dawn sunlight, eyes like the endless blue depths of a midsummer afternoon. His face was a marble angel’s, the lines of brow and cheek and jaw almost too mathematically perfect. Every good sculptor always knew to put in a flaw. His was in his front teeth, just a little too large, and it made Merlin dig his fingernails into his palms. He was lithe, muscular, dressed in black. Half-dressed - his jerkin was unbuttoned, his shirt open nearly to his navel, and he was missing a sock. His hair had the raked-through look of a man in crisis. His smile was dazzling and mad.
“This,” he said, spreading his hands, “is the magnificent - nay, the opulent court of the Crown Prince of Camelot!”
And then, very pleasantly - “Gaius, what the fuck is this?”

Magick is back, the wolves howled, magick is back, the crickets sang and the Druid claves hidden in the forest fell to their knees for Emrys had come. He had come to deliver them of their plague and their ruin.
Deliver them of the swords in their back and the blades at their neck, of the fire at their feet.
Yet, when Morgause claimed the right to set out and approach Emrys and to bring him back to them to start the campaign to free them all, the ancient crone warned her with blind eyes and overreaching hands, “magick is law and law is magick, you cannot have one without the other” she said “and one cannot be without the other. Are you Law?”

With giants and dragons and ogres and elves, and inanimate objects that bitch for themselves. There's romance and danger and plotting of schemes. There's good guys and bad guys and some guys in between.
A fairy tale also reveals some sort of truth, the perils of choices we face in our youth. But our story today is different in theme, for our hero had no choice, or so it would seem. It starts with a priestess bestowing a spell of yore. This one's for a baby named Merlin of Ealdor.
