“Got you something,” Eddie says, sitting back down. Their shoulders brush as he settles on his stool, sending electricity shooting through Buck’s body.
It’s then that he notices the hat Eddie’s holding, silver and covered in hundreds of tiny mirror pieces, resembling a disco ball.
“What the hell is that?” he asks, huffing a laugh.
“Found it on a table over there. You said you felt underdressed, but now you’ll fit right in.”
Buck rolls his eyes, smiling despite himself. “Yeah, at a Taylor Swift concert maybe.”
Eddie just shrugs, still grinning. “She’s from Nashville, isn’t she?”
“True,” Buck resigns, and before he knows what’s happening, Eddie is placing the hat on top of his head.
Or: Buck and Eddie arrive in Nashville for the firefighter games and have a night out, leading to a number of truths being revealed. Ft. Buck going feral over cowboy Eddie and the introduction of a sparkly hat. Yes, this is based on that one still. You know the one.

Eddie was dead. His heart had stopped beating his lungs had stopped breathing. He. Was. Dead.
Well no, if he was dead his blood soaked body wouldn't be shaking like he was on the verge of hypothermia. He wouldn't be able to gag at the amount of blood he was covered in, in the realization that not one drop of it belonged to him. So physically Eddie was alive. But how could he ever truly live again when someone had ripped out his heart.
or basically I watched the last half hour of the Artful Dodger season 1 for the first time last month and thought hey how can I make Buck and Eddie go through what Belle and Jack went through. So I gave Buck an abdominal aortic aneurysm sent Buddie on their way home from Nashville and had them get kidnapped. Maximum angst.

What mattered was getting Eddie to wear the stupid, shiny cowboy hat.
“Please?” Buck dragged out the word, not breaking eye contact.
He could swear he saw, and heard, Eddie’s breath hitch.
“Yeah- fuck, okay. Fine.”
Buck grinned, taking the hat off of his head at the same time Eddie took off his own, proudly holding it out for him, “M’lady.”
This time, Eddie’s breathing pattern definitely changed. Buck took a mental note of that, for… research purposes.

At the end of their Nashville trip, Buck and Eddie swap cowboy hats, dance together, and finally do something about their feelings.
