Description:

A companion series to Anchor of Reality — read that first. This is Trainee Sue: the wide, unordered record of who she was becoming before she became who she is.

The Ascension Arc tells you what Sue built. This series tells you what she survived to get there. Before the Empress Ascendent stabilized the noösphere, she was unbaked clay — technically capable, emotionally unfinished, dropped across a hundred training grounds to be shaped by whatever teacher the Fates decided she needed next. These stories aren't chronological, and they're not meant to be. They're the scattered curriculum: a lesson from Xena, a warning from a Rogue Seed-Self who didn't make it, a bond formed sideways on Pern before she was ready for any of it. Read in any order. There will always be another one — this series is Infinite by design, because a trainee's education never has a final chapter, only more terrain.

Notes:

Reading Order: None. This series is deliberately non-chronological — parts arrive whenever a new facet of Trainee Sue's formation demands telling, not in the order she lived them. Anchor of Reality is the spine; this is what grew around it.

Prerequisite: Anchor of Reality: a Multi-temporal Canon of the Great Road. The worldbuilding here assumes you already know the Road, the Companion Bond, and Sue's eventual shape as sovereign. This series exists to complicate that picture, not introduce it.

What This Series Is: A trainee is not a finished architecture. Where Anchor of Reality shows the stabilizer Sue became, Trainee Sue shows the unstable variable she started as — untrained Gifts, borrowed disciplines, mentors from a dozen incompatible traditions, and at least one glimpse of the person she could have been without any of them. Structure isn't guaranteed here the way it is in the core canon. That's the point.

Status: Ongoing, permanently. This series does not close.
