Summary
TL;DR: It's like Friends meets Almost Famous with HR incidents and better oatmeal continuity.
Shane Hollander is a freelance concert photographer with a day job at a camera shop, a bank account in active distress, and a long-standing professional fixation on Ilya Rozanov, front man of the Russian rock band Rozanov. Professional. Definitely professional.
For years, Shane has shot Ilya from the pit: first three songs, no flash, get the shot, get out. Then Rozanov’s lead guitarist gets arrested at the border, the tour starts rearranging itself around disaster, and Shane finds himself getting closer to the machine than any photographer is supposed to get.
A photo pass becomes a backstage pass. A backstage pass becomes a job. Access becomes proximity.
And proximity, unfortunately, has consequences.

Summary
TL,DR: A deeply unhinged, sexy, gothic, paperwork-heavy event. But still an event.
Rozanov is headlining Louder Than Life. The Vampire Lestat is direct support. This is already a scheduling insult, a management problem, and a spiritual emergency, depending on who you ask.
Shane Hollander is only supposed to photograph their set.
Unfortunately, Lestat notices the camera. Then he notices Shane. Then he notices exactly where Shane’s want can be touched without leaving fingerprints.
Ilya sees enough to know something is wrong, but not enough to stop Shane from choosing the shot anyway. Which is how a five-minute media tent favour turns into contaminated evidence, a consent problem with cheekbones, and the ugliest possible version of access.
First three, no flash. No pulse. No privacy.

Summary
Ever since the last episode of The Vampire Lestat came out I couldn't get it out of my head just how much Ilya would absolutely hate but also obsess over Stained Glass Eyes and also just how funny Shane would think that is... so I had to get it out of my head. LOL
Also snuck in a nod to my girl BigPlushShark who wrote one of my favourite Hollanov fics.

Oh I'm going to hurt you guys...
This is another one from mid-2020, I had gotten COVID in March that year and took almost 3 months to get over it and then we went right into the lockdown so there was a lot of writing happening. With this one I was trying to figure out what the reason for Ilya getting into music... why in this world, was he a rock star instead of a hockey player.
Keep in mind though that these were written very early on in developing the AU so I hadn't really found the voice yet so some of them, like this one, aren't in the same style that you're used to with First Three, No Flash.

Summary
Early in 2026 two things kind of happened not too far apart from each other. The show aired and I absolutely fell in love with Franco Lo Presti's interpretation of Cliff and I decided that if I was ever going to post everything I had been writing in a long, cohesive form, I would need to get rid of Roman. Not that I didn't like him, but his is just too complicated of a story to have riding under the Hollanov of it all and give the kind of care and attention that a subject like drug addiction deserves.
So around the start of January I started exploring Cliff and how he would fit in to the band, how to bring him in and what would have positioned him to be able to step in in the first place. So here is Cliff's background story.

Summary
Back in the summer of 2021 I was feeling kind of depressed because it had been over a year since I had gotten to shoot a show and for the second year in a row Osheaga had gotten cancelled. Shooting festivals was always one of my favourite things and, during it's brief 3 year run, WayHome was my favourite festival to shoot.
So, to try to cheer myself up I started to play around with what if Shane was shooting WayHome... this one if VERY heavy in the mechanics of how to actually shoot one. You can really tell I was longing to get back out there.
