Zuko, crown prince of the Fire Nation, was not the one kissing boys and playing pretend with an Earth Kingdom peasant. Li was. Li, who was also an Earth Kingdom peasant, Li who could afford to kiss boys and play pretend—and it wouldn’t even be pretend for Li. It could be real for Li, who was prince of nothing and heir to no one and had no future anywhere but here.
or: Zuko accidentally stumbles into a relationship with an intense boy he meets on the ferry to Ba Sing Se. And then deals with the various fallouts of that stumble.
