Summary
In the aftermath, a thousand and one deaths flash before his eyes, and Ares feels them all. Every sword. Every spear. Every knife.
Over and over again, he breathes his last breath, sometimes at the hands of another soldier and sometimes at the hands of himself. He stares at his own face, caked in blood and viscera, and hates himself for loving it.
War is his vice of choice. It is his lover. His best friend. His worst enemy. He hates to love it, but no matter how he tries, he can’t seem to escape its clutches.
He’s not quite sure if he really wants to.- - -
It’s ironic, isn’t it? Ares hates all of Poseidon’s children with a vengeful fury, and yet, in this new world of Christianity and Capitalism, Perseus Fucking Jackson is the closest thing he has to a priest.

Summary
Artemis is born screaming.
She is born with toohot sunlight scorching her veins and a womb she wishes to claw out with weakling fingers. She is born with names on the tip of her tongue that have not been given. With languages that do not yet exist. She is born speaking Greek and Hebrew, Tamil and tongues the goddesses have never heard before. Words that won’t exist for thousands of years trip off her tongue as she begs and cries and pleads. But prophecy cannot be returned. Only passed on.
For better or for worse, for worse being the more likely, she has been blessed by four goddesses of prophecy, and though only two may have been intentional, Artemis is born seeing far too much.
“If it is in your power, give me all that ails her. Curse me with what makes my sister weep and scream out, so that I would bear it upon my own shoulders.”
Gaea mourns, and she does.

Summary
When Sappho of Lesbos dies, she does not stop writing. The ache in her hand is gone, as though it was never there. She is painless. She is free. She sits, watches, and puts pen to paper in any way she wishes because she is dead, and dead women never again need to yield to men the way they did in life.

Summary
Mortal after mortal, hands reach his way without even realizing. They draw the god in for kisses and mouthfuls of ambrosia-laced wine. Wandering fingers find themselves mussing dark curls and tracing the curves of his hips and waist and chest. They know not who he is, and yet they murmur litanies of prayers against his lips with half-dissolved tabs of acid still melting on their tongues.
Dionysus feasts on the breathless devotion of mortals who he doubts have even heard his name before; on the moans that can barely be heard over the cacophony of singing voices; on the whispered prayers and hazy visions hoping to worship from between the thighs of the
