Summary
They’re at some club or another, swinging London crowd rapt around them, hanging on to Paul’s every word. And that’s when he hears him say it for the first time.
“Well, I suppose I’ve always thought it’s a bit like sex, you know. Like you wouldn’t do it with just anyone, would you?”

Summary
What was he thinking, having John’s baby when John wouldn’t even cough in his direction? It was bad enough to have John dump him for the exis in Hamburg. John had washed his hands of his family; he hadn’t seen Julian in weeks, and didn’t seem terribly excited to have him around when Yoko was there to fill his vision. John wasn’t going to want another baby to distract him from his new relationship, and his new life as someone who did things that were far more important than a little pop group.
When Paul becomes pregnant after a one-night stand in India, he decides that he would rather take matters into his own hands than rely on John for anything.

Summary
"Can you guys be quiet, please?" is his simple question, but John's voice is completely buried in the excitement of forty-two wild teenagers.
He tries again after a few seconds to make himself heard, but to no avail.
John is about to open his mouth again, when Paul McCartney's powerful, determined voice resounds like thunder.
"Silence!" he shouts, arms crossed and eyes fixed on their students, who instantly fall silent.
A part of John's brain would like to hear that same tone of voice, so peremptory and sexy, in very different situations, but this is definitely not the time for such thoughts.

"The problem between them, John figured, was that he never knew what Paul really thought about anyone, himself included. Paul’s best friends were his rivals were his lovers were his brothers."
