oh my god this is genuinely one of the best fics ive read in a while like GENUINELY this makes my top 5 oh my GOODNESS. its so good. i love the way you describe everything ethan's feeling in the first chapter and the time skips and the way everything blends together because it really does feel like that, and often time people include the detail of whats happening in those days but it really captures it to just put it in a paragraph because like Yeah man sometimes thats just what you remember because its all fading away. also i loved the literary devices / imagery / metaphors of just everything ethan was feeling, i cant remember another fic ive read where the language was as vivid as yours. also another thing i really liked is that like .. you REALLY nailed the characterisation . during mark's interlude chapter + how you were writing him reacting to ethan telling him they weren't friends, all i could think about was during mark's wisdom teeth removal video he was crying most because "i just want people to know how much they mean to me, because they mean so so so much to me", and you just captured it so perfectly. along with how mark is a very driven person and needs to be doing things at all times, that is very very good. this is also shown in ethan because i feel like hes just such a Needs Friends kinda guy, like i was thinking about how humans are really social animals and ethan is a prime example of that because he just like seems to have so much fun with people and this is probably what it would be like, its just like AUUUGHHHHHHHHhhhGUH THIS FIC IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOP FIVE FUR SHURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOLLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! while reading this i was also brought back to this tumblr post i saw a while ago was how the best fics were often written by people who were like 30 or 40 because you could really see the lived experience through their work, how they've gone through it and they've just been alive longer so they have more knowledge to put into the work and i feel like i can really see that here because the characters are just written with such knowledge and its just so good oh my golllyyyyyy gosh gee willickers!
oh yes and of course, your silence - starberry is what i listened to during reading. also its 11:54 on a school night while im reading this so i should probably go to bed .......
