Summary
"Every day, he sought to do the exact opposite of all the things Geralt had come to hate about him. He tried never to speak unless spoken to. He kept his head down. He never laughed too loud or offered to sing. He never asked the other Witchers to tell him stories about their travels and adventures. He made himself small, kept his voice low. He folded himself into the shadows of Kaer Morhen. Everything in his life had been a dream until Geralt made him wake up. He should be grateful. He might have gone on being a burden for the rest of his life. At least now he had a chance to still be something to Geralt, even if it was only a functional role. But it was better than an entire life without him - especially since he had discovered fae blood ran through his veins. He had many, many years ahead of him. The idea of having to live out the rest of his existence scorned by Geralt was unbearable. So, he did what he had to do..."
Jaskier becomes convinced that working himself to death is the only way to get Geralt's approval, until Geralt begins to notice that something is wrong...

Summary
The air cracked with lightning, wind picking up and swirling around the room sending furniture screeching across the stone floor and slamming against the walls. Gritting his teeth Geralt tensed his body against the force, his hair whipping around his face. "YEN!" he called but his voice was lost in the howl of the wind. Her lips were moving as she mumbled her spell, her violet eyes glowing with the power coursing through her. Her arms were held out before her, palms facing up to the ceiling and bare arms covered in symbols painted on her skin in a vibrant blue. She looked beautiful and powerful as her long hair whipped around her.
The wind picked up, lightening crashing into the ground at Geralt's feet, the sound ringing in his ears, the light so bright that he had no choice but to close his eyes. The room went still, unnaturally so and when he opened his eyes the raging storm had passed. In the middle of the protective circle stood a man, a God, his back to them but Geralt would recognize him anywhere. With a flourish of his hand the God turned but as soon as his eyes landed on Geralt his bright smile fell. "Fuck" he mumbled, looking less than impressed. Geralt stepped forward, eyes wide and disbelieving "Jaskier?"

Summary
Jaskier has zero intention of sharing the degrading experience of getting tortured. Ever. He’ll bury the memories and someday they’ll be as scabbed over as Caingorn was.
Which had been completely, absolutely, fine. And the only reason that wound is bleeding a little now is because fucking Geralt came out of nowhere—after the most humiliating experience of his entire life—and reopened the fucking thing. But that’s fine because he’ll leave and return to the terror of his smuggling work and forget about Geralt all over again. There’s nothing hard drink and the constant danger of execution won’t get his mind off. Because there’s something therapeutic about fearing for one’s life that makes anything not of immediate concern go away.
So yes, things were just fine before Geralt showed up.
Two years post-Caingorn, Geralt rescues Jaskier from prison and sends him with Ciri to Kaer Morhen. However, Geralt suspects Jaskier is hiding serious trauma.

Summary
Yennefer watched in horror as Jaskier's eyes rolled into his head and he fell.
“Jaskier!” Geralt yelled, already moving.
The sorceress felt her chaos reacting, even before her brain did. She enveloped the man's body with her magic. Surrounded by a violet glow, the bard's motionless body was now floating in mid air.
Focused on not loosing her grip on him, she had completely forgotten the floating stones, which clattered on the ground as they fell all together. The Witchers were thankfully all fast enough to avoid them.
Yen slowly lowered Jaskier into Geralt's arms, still outstretched trying to catch him.
The white haired Witcher easily caught him, holding him against his chest.
“Jaskier!” He shook him slightly, without getting a response.
The sorceress was on Geralt's side in an instant, grabbing the bard’s head with her hands. She had barely touched him when the younger man's appearance started to change.
Dark purple circles appeared under Jaskier's eyes, his face turned scrawny. His right hand, which laid limb, was red and there were blisters and blood. His body suddenly was much more lighter in the Witcher's arms. -

Summary
A few years after the unfortunate adventure with the dragon hunt, Geralt accidentally runs into Jaskier in the exactly same tavern, where the said adventure began. Maybe it wouldn't be that surprising (we are talking about the travelling bard after all), if Jaskier didn't look and behave so strange. How else can you describe approaching the witcher without making any indication to what has happened on the top of a certain mountain and simply paying him for killing a monster?
