Summary
1980.
Joyce and Karen have been in a secret relationship for a year. They navigate it the best they can with their busy lives, but sometimes it’s a while before they can spend time together. With Joyce’s endless work shifts and both of them caring for their kids (and Karen caring for her husband), they’ve not seen each other in a while. One night, Karen comes over for a few hours of fun with her girlfriend, but she’s carrying (literally) a big secret.
Karen lets Joyce know that she is pregnant with Ted’s baby. While dealing with that hardship, Karen decides that she wants to raise the baby (Holly) with Joyce.
They know it won’t be easy, especially Karen because her life will completely shift from her ‘perfect’ life on Maple Street, to Joyce’s home with barely enough room as it is, while also worrying about seeing her children.
But sometimes the thing you want most in life is the hardest to achieve. Usually though, it it’s worth it.
