Summary
Michael Emerson arrives in Santa Carla expecting senior year to be another obligation to survive. He intends to help his mother, keep his younger brother out of trouble, and leave the town behind as soon as graduation gives him the chance.
Then he meets David.
David is the center of Santa Carla High’s most infamous social circle: 4 stoned delinquents who cut class, occupy the bleachers like private territory, and throw parties in an abandoned hotel above the beach. Students call them "The Lost Boys". Teachers call them wasted potential. David calls them family.
When a confrontation lands Michael in detention, his hostility toward David develops into a dangerous fascination. David offers freedom without safety, affection without trust, and a place in a family that demands loyalty as its price of admission. Michael wants to understand him. David wants to be chosen by him. Neither boy understands how quickly wanting can become possession.
