A Miraculous Rebirth Side Story: Chloé and Kagami - Who is the father?
Part 1.
The bathroom door flew open violently on its hinges as a green-faced Chloé Bourgeois burst inside. Her hands were clamped tightly over her mouth as she rushed forward with a speed that would have made her loyal Pollen proud. She made it just in time. Her stomach violently lurched and emptied itself, leaving her wheezing, teary-eyed, and gasping for air several seconds later.
Mon dieu… What is happening to me… Her thoughts were fractured as her trembling hands kept her balanced unsteadily over the bowl. She took a ragged breath, trying to steady her racing heart. So disgusting… So utterly disgusting… But it’s over… It’s finally over—
Her eyes accidentally glanced down, a mistake that made her immediately belch. Her eyes widened as she realized her rebellious stomach had taken full offense of such an audacity and refused to let her go just yet.
<Bleurgh!> No, no, no… Not again! <BLEURGH!!!>
She leaned forward as the nausea returned with a vengeance, her body ensuring that every last remnant of dinner was banished from her life now and forever.
As she gasped for air, down on her knees and on the verge of collapsing, she felt a pair of strong, familiar hands grasp her shoulders. It was her soulmate—the woman she cherished above everybody else—steadying her. Chloé closed her eyes, so deeply embarrassed by her own sickness, but so intensely grateful for the assistance.
It was finally over…
Wordlessly, Kagami assisted her up. Chloé didn’t offer a shred of her usual stubborn resistance as the dark-haired woman led her to the sink. Slowly, the blonde's breathing returned to a controlled, steady rhythm under the loving care of her dragon girl. Kagami washed her face, wiped away the foul taste with fresh water, helped her change into a fresh nightie, and flushed the mess away.
At last, Chloé’s eyes focused on the mirror. She looked completely horrendous—pale, with dark bags under her eyes, and her hair a chaotic, tangled mess. A total disaster!
Then she saw Kagami’s reflection peeking over her shoulder, her stoic features softening with utmost concern. Chloé rewarded her wife with a small, exhausted, but deeply grateful smile before allowing herself to be led back to their bedroom. Soon, they were sitting side-by-side on the edge of their luxurious bed, taking a quiet moment to reflect about the incident…
“Arigato, Gami-chan…” Chloé said at last, sparing a glance at the woman waiting patiently at her side. A faint blush crept up her cheeks. “I am sorry I made such a mess…”
“Shhh, Chloé-sama… It’s alright.” Kagami’s voice was warm, smooth, and deeply soothing. “You are just a bit sick. It is perfectly normal.”
Normal? The word bounced around in Chloé’s head for a moment before she turned fully to stare at her wife.
“Chloé…” Kagami clasped the blonde’s trembling hands with a tenderness born from two lifetimes of shared devotion. “You know I love you more than life itself. You know I will always be here for you. No matter what happens, no matter what we face… always.”
“Gami-chan…” Chloé smiled with genuine gratitude; her blue eyes locked onto her partner's intense stare. “I love you too—”
“You are my life, my soul. Without you, I would be utterly lost," Kagami cut her off smoothly. "I am so grateful you are by my side. You are like the sun rising every morning, bringing joy into my entire being.”
“Oh, Kagami… I feel the exact same way—”
“It is alright. We all have our moments of weakness," Kagami’s gaze burned with an almost spiritual intensity. "But our love will last forever. For all eternity and beyond. We will go through this trial together.”
Wait, what? Chloé blinked. What trial?
“Believe in our love, Chloé-sama! What we have is sacred. Even if we fall into temptation, we will stand by each other! That is what makes us—”
“Okay, okay, stop right there, Kagami," Chloé interrupted, holding her hands. "What on earth are you talking about?”
The dragon woman smiled gently at her soulmate. Ignoring Chloé's utter confusion, Kagami took a deep breath, preparing to utter the words that would change their shared world forever.
“Are you pregnant?”
A silence heavier than the deepest vacuum of outer space filled the room. Chloé stared expressionless at her wife, her mind slowly processing Kagami’s words.
Finally, after a long moment holding her partner's unblinking gaze, the blonde reacted the way any sensitive, mature significant other would.
She snorted.
“Har, har. Very funny, Kagami. What could possibly give you such a ridiculous idea?”
“You are sick again. It’s the third time this week.”
“Three times! Really, Gami-chan, are you keeping statistics? Anyway, what does that have to do with—”
“It’s Tuesday Chloé-sama. I am not counting last week. Your early morning sickness has lasted for several days already.”
“So!? I ate something bad! I have a stomach bug—”
“We eat almost the exact same meals. And I am not sick.”
“See? It’s the almost part that matters! It’s—”
“Last night you topped your tuna sushi with pineapple.”
“It was a culinary revelation, let me tell you!”
“And then you squirted Dijon mustard on it…”
“Pftz! I wanted to experiment!”
“…before you dipped the entire thing into whipped cream and drizzled it with olive oil.” Kagami didn't even blink. “You ate six of them.”
“So!? I had a highly specific craving! What does that have to do with—”
“Are you pregnant, Chloé-sama?”
Chloé sighed in utmost exasperation, returning her full attention to her soulmate. Kagami was staring at her with that stern, impassive expression, masking the deep emotions Chloé knew were hidden underneath. The blonde took a slow moment to eye her partner from head to toe, appraising her sleek physique and the familiar curves discreetly concealed under her robe.
“What, are you secretly a man and you forgot to tell me?" Chloé scoffed. "Because I’ve known you for a long time, Kagami, two lifetimes interlaced together. And I am one hundred percent, completely, undeniably sure you are female. I can personally vouch for that.”
“Chloé-sama…”
“I mean, we all know how this works. For a woman to get pregnant, she has to get intimate with a man…” Chloé paused to construct a crude demonstration with her fingers, explicitly mimicking the mechanics of intercourse. The obscene gesture drew Kagami’s eyes for only a brief, unblinking moment. “And we know—you more than anyone else, except me of course—that you are a woman!”
“Chloé-sama…”
“And two women being cozy together the way we usually are…” The blonde’s fingers shifted into 'Vs', shamelessly presenting an entirely different, highly explicit demonstration. “That is not how a baby is made, Kagami! We learned this in school! Don’t tell me you were absent that day? Because I vividly remember mine. It was deeply embarrassing. Boys and girls should really have separate health classes. Actually, scratch that, individual sessions…”
“Chloé-sama!”
“WHAT?”
“Was it with Luka?”
Both women stared at each other with an intensity they usually reserved for their daily fencing sparring. Chloé took a deep breath, preparing to respond with the utmost poise, calm, and regal composure that defined her...
“WHAT THE HECK, KAGAMI!? NO! IT WASN’T WITH LUKA! I MEAN… I AM NOT PREGNANT!”
“Chloé-sama, calm down. Stress is not good for the baby.”
“WHAT BABY!? I CAN’T BE PREGNANT, KAGAMI! I would surely remember if I had slept with another person! ESPECIALLY A MAN!”
“Luka is quite attractive," Kagami noted objectively. "We have conversed about this.”
“What does that have to do with anything!?”
“True, I wish you had consulted me first. But I understand urges may be overwhelming and—”
“NO! I HAVEN’T SLEPT WITH LUKA!” A brilliant, furious crimson flushed across Chloé’s cheeks. “I mean, obviously I would have told you! A ménage à trois sounds incredibly exciting, but I am absolutely positive his wife wouldn’t approve!”
“So, was it Adrien?”
The mere suggestion of such an idea turned Chloé’s gaze into frigid blue ice.
“Eww, gross, Kagami! Adrien is my childhood friend! That's literally incestuous! Besides, Marinette would literally murder me if I ever tried. And she would take Pollen away! I mean, Marinella may no longer be the Guardian, but she would definitely find a way to convince Nathalie I am way below unworthy…”
“It’s alright, Chloé-sama. You don’t have to tell me…”
“Tell you what?”
“Who the father is.”
“WHAT FATHER!? I AM NOT PREGNANT, KAGAMI! All you have are these lame assumptions! Circumstantial evidence at best! If every single person who felt nauseous was carrying a baby, THE WORLD WOULD BE UTTERLY OVERRUN BY TODDLERS!”
“You are slightly bloated.”
“NOW YOU ARE CALLING ME FAT! WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU!?”
“You are more irritable than usual.”
“WHAT’S WRONG WITH BLOWING MY TEMPER EVERY NOW AND THEN!? I AM HIGH-SPIRITED! THAT IS WHO I AM, AND YOU KNEW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WERE GETTING INTO WHEN YOU MARRIED ME THE VERY FIRST TIME!!!”
“You have severe mood swings.”
“I am so sorry, Gami-chan…” <sniff, sniff…> “I know I shouldn’t scream at you… It’s just… You are being so mean to me, and I love you so much! I just don’t understand why you're doing this…”
“And you are missing your period.”
That last statement finally shut Chloé up. She stiffened noticeably, the tears instantly drying on her face. Crossing her arms tightly, she glared at her spouse, thoroughly annoyed by Kagami’s relentless, inquisitive stance.
“Are you keeping me under surveillance, Gami-chan? Can’t a woman just be late occasionally?”
“You have been late for two months.”
Chloé scoffed, rolling her eyes. “And how, pray tell, do you know that?”
“Our cycles are in perfect sync, Chloé-sama. Ever since the wish, it has been kind of obvious. You miss it, I notice.”
“Ugh! Whatever!” Chloé threw her hands in the air. “Sometimes I really wish we had woven some basic privacy into that stupid spell…” Her eyes immediately locked onto the plastic, stick-like object Kagami was holding right in front of her face. She stared at it for a long moment before looking back up at her stoic soulmate.
“What’s that?”
“It is a pregnancy test.”
“No, I mean, what is that for?”
“It is for us to be certain.”
Chloé groaned, rolling her eyes dramatically toward the ceiling. Her fingers snatched the offending item out of Kagami's hand before she focused back on her partner's unblinking gaze.
“If I do this, will you finally drop this absolute nonsense?”
“Yes.” The dark-haired woman nodded.
“Fine…” With a swift, aggressive motion, Chloé uncapped the plastic stick, eager to bury this entire incident in the deepest depths of her memory. “But let me tell you this, my dear Dragoness… once this thing proves you wrong, you had better apologize to me a thousand times for being such a pain! Seriously, Kagami! This is utterly outrageous!”
…
“So, how long do I need to keep this in?” Chloé mumbled around the plastic.
“Chloé-sama…”
“What?”
“You do not put it in your mouth.”
“Ptooey!” Chloé spat the stick across the room. “You could have told me! It tastes like garbage!”
“I did tell you. Besides, I assumed you knew.”
“Whatever! So, what, do I put it under my armpit or—”
An instruction booklet was smoothly shoved into her field of vision. Chloé blinked at the very detailed diagrams.
…
“I am absolutely NOT peeing onto that!”
“That first one is ruined anyway, Chloé-sama," Kagami said calmly, producing an identical plastic stick from seemingly out of nowhere. "Here.”
…
“You bought a whole box of these things!?”
“I calculated that we would need a safety margin.”
“Ugh! Whatever! You wait right here! And get ready, Kagami, because you are going to be so utterly embarrassed when this thing proves you wrong!”
---
Chloé Bourgeois had always thought of herself as the most amazing, intrepid, and glamorous of heroines. Not to mention the bravest! She had fought all kinds of supervillains, from low-level street thugs to cosmic horrors, with the occasional interdimensional space demon thrown in. No matter the odds, she had never backed down from a fight. Together with her brave soulmate and their loyal friends, she had overcome every challenge, earning her rightful place in the stars as Queen Bee—the unquestionable holder of the Miraculous of Action!
But today, as she sat surrounded by countless discarded plastic sticks—every single one displaying that infamous, mocking double-line—she finally realized how ridiculously wrong she had been.
In all those desperate battles, with her life constantly on the line, she had never truly understood the concept of raw, unadulterated panic.
Not until that day...
“Ka-Ka-Kagami, this isn’t possible! I swear to you, it’s utterly impossible! T-T-These things are all defective, let me tell you!” Chloé extended a trembling hand. Her frantic demand for another chance bounced uselessly off the Dragon holder’s impassive, emotionless stance. “I need another one. Just hand me another one! Please, Gami-chan!”
“Chloé-sama…”
“See?” Chloé ignored her. Kagami watched silently as her wife—the woman whose unparalleled confidence she admired so deeply—gulped down an entire pitcher of water in a desperate, futile attempt to force a false negative. “I’m ready! Hand me another one! The next one will be the right one, I swear!”
“Chloé-sama…” Kagami whispered, her voice tinged with a heavy, crushing finality. “We have no more. You spent the entire box.” She averted her eyes. That tiny, uncharacteristic gesture sent a wave of sheer anguish straight into Chloé’s heart.
“Then they’re all defective! I swear it! Come on, let’s go get another box. A different brand this time!” Chloé’s cold, clammy hand gripped Kagami’s wrist, trying to pull her. Kagami didn't budge against the weak, desperate tugs. “I’m suing the company! The next ones will prove—”
“Here.”
Chloé froze, staring in shock at the plastic stick Kagami was suddenly holding out to her.
“I tested one. I am the control group. See?”
Chloé’s blue eyes widened as she read the window of Kagami's test. A single, solitary line. The ultimate proof her brain fiercely refused to accept.
“I am not pregnant, Chloé… which means you are.” Kagami let out a soft, resigned sigh. Her vermillion eyes—usually brilliant beacons of strength and unbreakable purpose—were filled with a profound sadness that plunged Chloé into absolute despair.
Kagami’s hand moved to her chest, pressing flat against her own heart. Averting her gaze once more, her next words were gentle, yet tinged with a deep, quiet pain that made Chloé gasp in sudden realization.
“It is alright, Chloé-sama. You do not need to explain. I understand. We will go through this together…”
“NO, KAGAMI! YOU DON’T GET IT! I HAVE NEVER BEEN UNFAITHFUL TO YOU! I SWEAR!” Chloé’s voice grew more desperate with every passing second, the heavy silence Kagami had fallen into becoming completely unbearable. “I’ve never been intimate with anyone else… I would rather die than betray you! I LOVE YOU!!!”
Chloé grasped her soulmate’s shoulders, desperately trying to force the stoic woman to look at her. “Please! Please look at me! I have never—”
“Chloé-sama…” Kagami’s voice was completely flat as she finally returned her gaze. Her eyes were glistening with unshed tears, her carefully constructed composure finally fracturing to let the agony peek through. “Please, stop…”
“NO, KAGAMI! LOOK AT ME!”
Her desperate cry forced her soulmate to stare directly into her face. It only lasted a second before Kagami’s haunted gaze broke away, unable to hold Chloé’s anguished stare. She couldn't bear to look into those beautiful blue eyes she cherished above everything else.
Chloé was begging her. It felt entirely wrong. Chloé-sama should not be begging. Kagami had sworn an oath to stand by her, to protect her. They were soulmates. She couldn't bear the thought of causing her wife any pain. Why couldn't Chloé just admit to having an affair so they could move past it? It was a mistake. Humans make mistakes. Yes, it hurt like the slash of a blade, but…
“Chloé-sama…” Kagami tried again, her voice shaking slightly. “We… we all have moments of weakness—”
“NO!” Chloé’s sharp, desperate shout finally locked Kagami’s eyes back onto hers. “I am telling you the truth! I get it now! I am pregnant! You were right, I AM SO UTTERLY PREGNANT, KAGAMI! BUT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA HOW IT HAPPENED! You believe me, right? RIGHT!?”
Kagami closed her eyes again, taking a deep breath. Even without their shared telepathic link, she didn't need a magical bond to know her soulmate truly believed her own words. As insane as the situation was, she could feel it deep in her bones. Chloé-sama genuinely had no idea how this had happened.
Then why did she feel so hurt? Why was she so eager to ignore—and forgive—an offense that she knew deep down couldn't exist?
Because that is not how babies are made, Kagami’s hyper-analytical mind reminded her. And yet, Chloé-sama doesn't know... It makes absolutely no sense. I do not know what to think.
Kagami knew she had to take a stand. She had to answer her soulmate’s desperate plea, and she only had one answer to give.
Taking a deep, anchoring breath, she finally opened her eyes. She locked her gaze onto the woman she would cherish for all eternity—the woman she had sworn an unbreakable oath to stand by.
“I believe you,” Kagami whispered at last, her lips finally curving into a gentle, encouraging smile. “I do not understand it. It makes no logical sense... but we will find out the truth together...”
Relieved tears spilled over Chloé’s lashes. Kagami’s hands went to her partner’s shoulders, her touch reassuring, eager to pull her wife into her arms. Suddenly, Chloé’s hands reached out and tenderly cupped Kagami’s face, causing the dark-haired woman’s eyes to widen.
“Look into me, Gami-chan!” Chloé pleaded. Kagami could feel her wife actively tearing down her inner walls, channeling her thoughts and laying her heart and soul completely bare. “Please, just look! I don’t mind! I have absolutely nothing to hide from you!”
“Chloé-sama! You don’t need to do this! I truly believe—”
“I would never betray you, Kagami… never…”
In a sudden, breathless instant, the familiar warmth of their shared soul bond snapped into place. The Emotion Overdrive completely overwhelmed Kagami, flooding her senses with her wife's raw thoughts and deepest, unfiltered feelings. They hit her like a tidal wave—pure, unconditional love and an utmost, unwavering devotion. Kagami gasped, the sheer weight of Chloé’s love bringing fresh tears to her own eyes.
Kagami could no longer restrain herself. Her own soul eagerly answered the call, unlocking her own locked-away thoughts, emotions and fears—usually so carefully concealed behind her stoic posture—and pouring them right back into Chloé’s heart.
The blonde gasped as the telepathic rush hit her. Her Dragon warrior had spoken the absolute truth. Kagami did believe her, entirely and unconditionally, even though this entire ordeal defied every bit of rational sense. Kagami’s love was shining brightly through the bond, radiating a strength and devotion that Chloé knew was reserved just for her. Her Dragon warrior had never truly doubted her.
The whole thing was just so ridiculously hard for their minds to accept!
When both women finally opened their eyes, they were on their knees, fiercely embracing each other as tears streamed down their faces. For a long time, neither said a word. Instead, they simply basked in the warmth of their shared bond, relishing each other's presence until Kagami’s voice finally broke the silence.
“Chloé-sama…” The dark-haired woman felt her wife's embrace tighten in response. “Are we becoming… mothers?”
A soft chuckle escaped Chloé as she slowly released her hold. Her teary blue eyes locked onto Kagami's for a brief second before she averted her gaze down to her own stomach. She rested her palm against her abdomen. A moment later, Kagami’s hand gently joined hers over the spot. The tender gesture made the blonde look back up, her expression a mix of newfound peace and quiet anxiety.
“I don’t know...” Chloé answered carefully, her voice tightly restrained. “I mean, I would love to. I would love nothing more than to give us a child. It’s just…” She paused, taking a moment to gather her racing thoughts. “We don’t know what’s going on. We need answers. This is all so sudden, Kagami… What if something goes wrong? I don’t want to get our hopes up, only to…”
“It is alright.” Kagami’s free hand moved up to gently cup Chloé’s cheek, a soothing touch that brought a deep sense of security back into her wife's heart. “We will find out. We will talk to the others. Let us speak with Nino first, he is a good place to start.”
Chloé smiled warmly, nodding in approval. They closed their eyes as they leaned in closer. As their lips finally met in a soft, reassuring kiss, they could feel it through the bond. This was their new promise—their own shared oath to stand for each other and protect the new life now blooming so close to their intertwined hearts. They would do everything in their power to ensure this child got the beautiful future it deserved.
…
In a quiet corner of the bedroom, Pollen and Longg watched the scene in reverent silence. Soon, the small Bee Kwami turned her head toward the Dragon.
“Do you know what happened?” she whispered. Her companion shook his head.
“I can’t say for sure…” the tiny dragon replied quietly. “But I know they will figure it out. Their lives are truly exceptional, and they have been blessed with a small miracle.”
Pollen smiled softly, nodding her head.
“So true. Our holders are, without a doubt, truly Miraculous.”

The morning sun filtered warmly through the massive glass windows of the Bourgeois-Tsurugi apartment. Ten-year-old Ami adjusted her round-rimmed reading glasses as she padded into the kitchen, her chestnut-brown hair tied into two neat, elegant braids that Maman Chloé had carefully woven the night before.
On the kitchen island, a perfectly balanced breakfast of rice, miso soup, and sliced fruit sat under a glass cover. Next to it lay a note written in sharp, flawless calligraphy.
Ami-chan,
Your Maman and I have departed early for an urgent medical consultation with Nino-san. Eat your breakfast, lock the door behind you, and excel in your studies. We love you.
— Mama
Ami chewed her fruit thoughtfully, entirely unconcerned. Urgent medical consultations with Nino usually meant Maman had stubbed her toe while attempting a difficult pirouette and was currently demanding the hospital's best specialist.
Finishing her meal, Ami neatly washed her dishes and went back to her bedroom to grab her backpack and her comfortable pastel-pink cardigan. As she stepped back into the hallway, a faint, rhythmic scratching sound caught her attention.
She traced the noise to her mothers' master bedroom. Pushing the door open, she realized the balcony door hadn't been fully latched, causing the heavy silk curtains to blow in the breeze and flap against the glass. Maman and Mama had left in quite a hurry, apparently.
Ever responsible, Ami walked across the room to secure the latch. As she turned around to leave, she noticed the master bathroom door was wide open, and the small, very luxurious designer wastebasket near the vanity was slightly tipped over. Peeking out from the top was a literal mountain of white and pink plastic devices.
Curious, Ami stepped inside the marble bathroom and knelt down. She picked up one of the plastic sticks, squinting through her glasses at the distinct, unmistakable double pink lines. She picked up another. And another.
By the time she was through, she had carefully arranged twenty-one identical sticks in a neat grid on the bathroom floor, all bearing the twin lines. A single stick had only a single line—a negative, she mused. And the last one appeared to be lightly chewed. How odd…
At last, she retrieved a crumpled box from the deep recesses of the bin. Twenty-four pieces total. One was missing…
Ami’s wide eyes sparkled behind her lenses. A gasp of pure, innocent delight escaped her lips.
A sibling!
Her brilliant, analytical mind immediately began to process the data. She crossed her arms as she stared down at the plastic array. A normal person would only use one or two tests to confirm a medical condition, she reasoned logically. To use an entire bulk-box of twenty-four identical tests one after the other required an astronomical level of theatrical anxiety and dramatic overreaction.
Ami nodded to herself, a definitive conclusion locking into place.
Maman Chloé is definitely the one who is pregnant! Mama Kagami was clearly the scientific control group, which perfectly explained the single negative. And the chewed one…
Maman Chloé should really take the time to read the instruction manual!
As for the missing twenty-fourth stick… they obviously took it with them. They needed the physical evidence for Uncle Nino.
Satisfied with her findings, she carefully crammed all the sticks back into the bin before standing up. Slinging her backpack over her shoulders, Ami finally walked out of the apartment and locked the door behind her. As she waited for the elevator, she pulled out her small leather-bound notebook and a fountain pen, neatly logging her brand-new entry.
‘Observation #412: Sibling Hypothesis.’
‘Maman Chloé is expecting a baby. This is highly acceptable and very cool.’
She paused, her pen hovering over the paper as a sudden, missing variable struck her. Ami tilted her head, her innocent face crinkling in deep, genuine confusion.
Wait... if Maman Chloé is pregnant... and Mama Kagami is a woman… then who is the father?
Shrugging it off for now, she tucked her notebook away as the elevator doors chimed open. No rush. She had the entire school day to deduce his identity. A brilliant smile bloomed across her face.
It would be a highly entertaining mental exercise…
