Chapter Text
Agott was frustrated- no it was more than a frustration. It was a problem she's been trying to resolve for the past few weeks.
It’s been a couple months since Coco has arrived at the atelier. Agott would say this is where it all began; all the problems that began to rise directly stem from this date. She used to be a perfectly responsible apprentice being able to complete her task on time without any failure or little mistakes.
Ever since that green haired girl appeared in her life, everything changed.
The change in her circles, the messy lines that used to be perfectly still and smooth now had a little wiggles within each couple of inches between space.
The change in her environment that Green haired girl invaded her space like a parasite, moving in all her stuff making the space like it was her own. Although she did leave Agott’s side of the room alone. She didn’t help, but to decorate her other half the noise it made filled the room, causing distractions all over the place.
The change in her heart, it was small, but yet noticeable to her, her heart usually beat at a normal pace, smooth and at a normal rate for anyone in her physical shape. But the second she took a step near or even stepped in the same environment as that girl her heart picked up the pace, feeling it, the rush blood to her face, feeling the warm red flush in her cheeks, clutching her chest, trying to breathe gently, calming herself down.
All this change was annoying to say the least. Coco was a distraction to her. Something she needed to get rid of in order to progress in her life, easier said than done.
Agott scratched at her wrist- the painful picking at the scabs reminded her of the punishments. She was going to forget this girl whether or not her heart desperately needed to remember Coco.
She waited until Master was heading out with the other apprentices to head towards Kalhn for a supply run. She declined their offer on an invitation choosing to stay behind for her plan.
“Are you sure you’re going to be safe all along?” Qifrey looked at her before closing the window way.
“Yes Master, I believe im capable of being alone. I should get back to my studies.” Agott dusted her coat off- standing up straight to make herself look more professional.
“Alright, we’ll be back soon.” Qifrey closed the window, but she could see his hesitation. Like he knew something that she was hiding.
She made her way up the wooden stairs, running her fingers along the railing. Gently twisting the doorknob. The opened the door to their bedroom. maybe this time she would hate coco more then she wanted her. This new start would fix everything.
This is what she needed- a fresh new start.
She sat down at her desk, looking at the familiar ink stains on her wooden desk from the times she had held Coco's unsteady hands for her spell casting. The dents where she had pushed her pen too far into the paper as Coco happily yelped from casting her first own spell.
So many memories would be gone, but the stains from each of them remained in her life.
Agott picked up the gritty paper and placed it onto her desk right where she always placed her papers- picking her purple pen that Coco had gifted her a while back.
Dipping it into the black ink- carefully tapping it along the edge of the glass case to drip the excess.
Lifting her pen up in the air, drawing multiple circles in the air before placing her pen carefully down on the paper, watching the ink flow into the paper ridges drawing her circle, but yet to be completed.
Paying her absolute attention to each stroke, Agott’s head began to ache- why must this happen at a moment like this.
Drawing each small intricate sigil aligned with the others she drew. The pen made small divots in the fibers of the page; the more messy the lines were the less likely the spell would cast as effectively. She gripped the pen more- frustrated with her lack of control over the ink spillage.
Only one last sigil.. and it will be all over. her hand couldn’t stop shaking- the small circle with three small dots on the inner edge.
Finally. All I have to do is close the circle; This time no mistakes- no more excuses for anything, her and I will start over just as friends. Nothing more.
”Agott.? What are you doing?” Qifrey had the door already open- looking at her teary face filled with reddish cheeks
Agott dropped her pen, unable to say anything; only soft panic breathing was heard.
“This is- How do you know this spell Agott? This is forbidden magic. Memory altercation spells are under the category of forbidden spells-.” He knelt down sitting down right next to her, she sat there quietly.
“Why would you ever need a spell like this.?” His voice softened, picking up the sheet of paper in front of her.
Her words tangled at her throat. She couldn’t muster up any words, nothing spilled from her mouth, only looking at him desperate for an answer.
“I needed-.. to.” Her words hesitated looking at him as he watched her carefully speak, listening to each breath and mumble she took.
“I can’t-. I don’t want to remember her anymore.” Her hands shot down to her thighs, feeling the fabric of her long dress, gripping it tightly, smashing the folds of fabric in between her fingers.
“Who is getting you all like this? Who would get you to do all this dangerous thing- Agott.” Qifrey reached his hands out wrapping his fingers around her hand holding it in his gentle warm embrace.
Agott lashed out- pulling harshly away from her master. She stumbled as she took a couple steps back. “You wouldn’t understand! She’s always there isn’t she! Always finding a way to invade the atelier! She is a parasite- I hate- I hate her!”
“Agott-! Where is this anger coming from-?” He was stunned to see her act in such a manner. He knew about her burst of anger but it was never to this degree.
“Coco-! She’s everywhere! Always being so kind to everyone like she belongs here! Doesn’t she know she’s just an outsider- Why would I-“ She yelled, tears flowing from her eyes running down to her chin.
She fell to the floor- clutching her knees hard to the point of pain. Why must these words be so hard to say?
“Why- why would I like someone like her. Why did it have to be her- she won’t leave my mind.. I can’t- I have to forget her.” She sobbed- her hair falling to the front of her face as she couldn’t see.
Her face felt flush- she wanted so much to be have comfort but it felt strange almost disgusting to her that she required such a thing as like that.
“Do you want some alone time.? We can pick this conversation up later if you feel more comfortable.” Qifrey mumbled standing up.
She said nothing- the words tangled in her sobs
‘No- please don’t go.. I need someone to tell me I'm wrong and I need her.’ But yet no words could leave her dry mouth.
Qifrey left- leaving the door slightly cracked. Agott looked up at her wall. Frustrated with herself- why couldn’t she just admit she needed help.
“I hate this! I hate- hate- ungh..!” She grabbed her cap throwing it against her once neatly organized desk now was a mess, ink spilled onto the floor- papers flew onto the ground. Her hands reached for her hair pulling strands of her purple curls out.
She looked over at her desk- the ringing in her head slowed down. That such still object laid on her desk- calling. No beckoning- whispering sweet words to her ears.
There was other forms of harm that Master had yet to notice.
just one more won’t hurt?
