“What the fuck happened to you out there, girl?” Lucas wanted to know. She wouldn’t have answered him even if she could speak, there was no reason to. Charon was gone, it wouldn’t do either of them any good for her to speak ill of him now.
It wasn’t his fault. The days rolled on, with Ana stuck under the Doc’s careful observation. Their shack in Megaton became a revolving door of visitors. Moira brought a notepad for Ana to communicate with, one that ended up thrown against the far wall of her bedroom. Nova checked on her daily, asking far too many prying questions that Ana refused to answer. Gob swung by a few times to bring her food that she wouldn’t eat. Her friends were trying to help her, she knew, but it didn’t fix the ache in her heart.
She should be angry with him, but all she could think about was Charon. Being relegated to rest at home was agony, with him out there somewhere— God, who knows where.
Do-gooder Ana has experienced a lifetime's worth of trauma in the month since she was forced to flee Vault 101. This wasn't how she expected her life to be. But she's survived so far, how much worse can it get?
