Summary
There’s no way. After all this time, there’s no way.
The man turns.
And Beomgyu—Beomgyu is simultaneously relieved and crumbling. He’s eased and aching.
Either time travel is real, or it can be.
“Welcome to the Lupine Motel,” the man says as he’s turning, that sunny voice just as Beomgyu remembers, if not a bit deeper. “Are you checking…” He trails off mid sentence when he looks up from the computer, gaze locking on him. “In?”
The question is finished in a breathy, barely audible tone. Sharp eyes turn big and round, eyebrows turning up in the middle and plump, pink lips drop into a little shocked circle, blinking like he’s seen a ghost. In a way, he sort of has—Beomgyu feels like a ghost being back in this town; long gone and forgotten.
And the only person here who might take the time to remember him blinks at him, squeezing his eyes shut hard, like Beomgyu himself did moments before. As if they still run on the same programming—like they still share the same habits.
Back in the town he swore he'd never return to, Beomgyu has to face the past; head on. And some things—many things—don't seem to add up.
