Chapter Text

The morning light shone brightly in Zanka's face. And though he tried to ignore it so he could sleep longer, he couldn't ignore his immense need to pee. So, reluctantly, he tried (helplessly) to escape from Jabber tight embrace. He first tried to do it gently, trying to avoid waking the man, but when that proved useless he tried to quickly get up. Except the moment Zanka tried, Jabber's hold just got tighter.

“Jabber…” Zanka sighed, just wanting to relieve his bladder. “Let me go.” He tries to get up again, only to face the same results.

“No. Just a few more minutes.” Jabber held the man with the grip of a starving python.

“I'm coming right back ok?” Zanka rolled his eyes, not trying to move, rather settling on negotiation. “It'll be like two minute tops.”

“Even that's too long away from you.” Jabber fought back a tired laugh.

“You've gone longer without seeing me.”

“Yes, so why would I miss out on some Zanka time right now.”

“Because if you don't you're gonna get pissed on.”

Jabber finally opened his eyes, adjusting his head to look at Zanka with a confused expression.

“Damn Zan, I didn't know you were into shit like that.” Jabber laughed as the hit connected to his side. He'd finally let Zanka free, and Zanka quickly got up.

“Fuck no! That's something I'd expect you to like.” He shot with a disgusted look on his face as he walked towards the door.

“I'm offended you think I'd like that.” Jabber laid his head back on the bed as Zanka walked out the room.

Zanka stumbled out of the room in a hurry. He sped-walked down the hallway, not exactly paying attention to what or who was in his path.

And then he bumped into someone.

“Oh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching wher-” Zanka trailed off, realizing that it had been Enjin he bumped into.

“Oh hey Zanka” he laughed nervously. “You're good kid! Seems like you were in a rush there.” Enjin shut the door behind him.

Zanka looked at the door for a second, you could practically hear the gears working in his head. “Hey isn't this Gris’ room-”

“ALRIGHT! SO HOW ABOUT YOU GO AHEAD AND DO WHAT YOU WERE- GO WHERE YOU WERE- UH GO TO- HEY AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE GOING OUT WITH RIYO AND FOLLO!”

That's right.

Riyo and Follo had made plans to go check out some new food place here and they practically volunteered Zanka to go with them.

“Oh right! I totally forgot.” Zanka said walking past Enjin, ignoring the fact that Enjin was obviously trying to distract Zanka from the previous topic.

Behind the man, Enjin practically sprinted to his room, fleeting in embarrassment.

Back in the room, Jabber twisted the rings on his fingers, staring at the ceiling blankly. He thought about going back to sleep, however he would probably have to leave soon.

“So much for two minutes. “ Jabber shifted onto his side. He wasn't really sure what to do now as he waited. Boredom crept into his space, holding him there in the bed, simply just waiting.

He imagined Zanka just got caught talking to someone in the hall, or maybe he had a shitload of piss in him this particular morning. Eventually his mind drifted off into more intimate thoughts. He thought of Zanka and his stupid eyebrows. He thought of Zanka's undying beauty and his unwavering determination. He thought of the softer moments between them. The times not overruled by animosity and fighting, but by something so much more sweeter. Jabber preferred those moments.

There was a time where Jabber would find joy in hurting Zanka. Their fights would rally on for what seemed like forever. And Jabber had loved it. He once thought that it was the only way to show his infatuation, through hard hits and sinister intents. But as Jabber’s time with Zanka increased, as well as his feelings, he realized much of the opposite. He learned that to Zanka, it's not very proper to show your love for people through violence. It had felt so very normal to Jabber though.

But over time Jabber learned that he didn't want to hurt Zanka. Actually, it hurt Jabber so much when he hurt Zanka.

It was weird. They had been fighting. Jabber was laughing, and Zanka had that same frustrated frown on his face. And then, Jabber looked at Zanka. Actually looked at him. All bloody, bruised and in pain. Then in an instant Jabber broke down.

Zanka looked at him confused. But Jabber soon told him.

Jabber told him everything, and he didn't regret it one bit. He never would. It was the best decision of his life.

Then after what felt like forever, Jabber heard footsteps approaching the room. And as he was about to make a sparky comment about how Zanka took a million years to come back, the door opened.

And in the corridor stood…Rudo?

Silence filled the room. Jabber felt the panic rise in him.

“Oh shit.” He mumbled under his breath as he jolted out the bed toward the shocked looking boy. Rudo turned to run but Jabber pulled him into the room, slamming the door shut and covering Rudo's mouth, stifling the boy's yelling.

“Hey! Shut up!” Jabber whispered-yelled, to no avail as Rudo was throwing punches and kicking around frantically. Jabber sighs, he thinks about calming him down by poisoning him, but Zanka wouldn't be happy with that.

“Listen listen! I'll explain everything ok? Just calm down man!” Jabber let the boy go as he saw Rudo stop struggling.

“Stay over there! I don't trust you!” Rudo yelled as he fled to the furthest part of the room, away from Jabber.

“Okay okay.” Jabber had his hand up in the air in defeat. Under the glare of Rudo, he took a seat on the bed. Hopefully he could get Rudo out of here before Zanka got back.

“I'm guessing you want to know why I'm here right?” Jabber asked, there was a softness in his voice that differed so much to his usual maniacal demeanor.

“Obviously!” Rudo said, somehow have found a pillow to use as defense.

Now Jabber knew how Rudo's vital instrument worked. But really? A pillow? What was it gonna do? Jabber held back a mocking laugh.

“I'm here to see Zanka.”

“As if! Zanka wouldn't let a raider in here. Especially if that raider is you!”

Oh how could Jabber tell the ignorant boy. He'd probably let him on lightly, let him figure it out by himself. There is no need to just lay the truth on him in just one go.

Right?

“Yes he would. He does it all the time.”

“What? That doesn't make any sense!” Rudo looked dumbfounded. “There's no way you're tryna say you and Zanka are actually friends?”

“Well we're not friends. But we are very close. Like super close.” Jabber added, but it seems Rudo is as dense as he imagined. “Like way more than friends.” Jabber spoke slowly like he was teaching a baby to talk.

Then Rudo's eyes went wide.

“Like… Married?”

Jabber busted out laughing. “Married? No!”

“You're not? Then what…” Rudo looked utterly defeated.

“We're dating Rudo.”

Zanka walked up to the room door only to hear yelling. Confused, he slowly opened the door, only to be met with two pairs of wide eyes. One belonging to who he expected to be here. Jabber had been sitting on the bed, eyes wide with shock before his face morphed into something more awkward and apologetic. The other pair of eyes, belonging to a disgruntled Rudo.

Zanka stood in the doorway for a second. He tried and tried to process the scene in front of him. When he did finally move, he stepped in and closed the door lightly and just stood there, alternating between looking at Jabber and Rudo.

Zanka opened his mouth to say something but was beaten to it by Rudo.

“YOU'RE DATING JABBE-”

“SHUT UP YOU IDIOT!” Jabber cut Rudo off.

“...you're dating Jabber?” Rudo whispered frantically.

Zanka turned to look at Jabber.

“Yes I told him, but only because I didn't exactly know what to do when he just walked in.” Jabber explained.

“I literally asked if you were friends. You took it upon yourself to say you were more than that.” Rudo shot.

“Hey I'm tryna save both our asses.” Jabber whispered.

Zanka opened his mouth to speak, and just as quickly shut it. He had nothing to say. He went to sit on the bed next to Jabber.

Downstairs, Riyo and Follo were waiting for him. He had told them that he would be down in a moment, but he thought about how this would probably take more time.

“Rudo.” He began, hoping to save what part of the situation he could. But inside he was quite literally freaking out. This was it. He was planning on waiting a little bit last minute to tell everyone. Its only still the beginning of the week. He was going to work up to it. But it's out to one person now.

“You won't… You can't-”

“You won't tell anyone else right?” Jabber jumped in to help Zanka, hearing his panic.

“Why would I do that?”

“What?” Zanka mumbled.

“I don't care who you date, I just…question your taste is all. I thought you were smarter than that.”

“Imma ignore that for now.” Jabber mumbled.

“But! I have a condition!”

The panic in Zanka subsided with something different. Something like annoyance, as he had almost forgotten that Rudo was a little shit.

“No.” Zanka deadpanned.

Ignoring him, Rudo continued. “You!” He pointed at Zanka. “You will buy me sweets for a whole…” he counted on his fingers. “Three months!”

“You know what, sure. I'll give you enough to put you in a sugar coma.”

“A what?”

Zanka got up off the bed, remembering that he was supposed to be leaving. He turned to Jabber after getting his clothes together. “I'm gonna be gone with Riyo and Follo today. Are you staying in here?”

“Nah, I don't think I should let anyone else get the chance to see me here…in your room.”

Zanka walked closer to Jabber. “Okay.” Zanka leaned down to kiss Jabber. “They're waiting on me, so I'm going now.”

“Okay. See you later Zan.” Jabber said as he pulled Zanka down for another kiss. Getting interrupted right before they had the chance to.

“I'M STILL IN HERE Y’KNOW” Rudo yelled from across the room.

“THEN GET OUT!” Zanka and Jabber yelled in unison.
