It was the worst part of being Connor Zilisch From The News Footage: he hated being anything other than the #8 Exo pilot.
And he knew the investigation would take months, they'd made that very clear. But when it was all settled, what then? He could climb into the cockpit of the #8 Exo for the next decade, and perform, and prove himself as a pilot. He could pass his exams as a simulator tech, and get higher-level certifications. He could do all kinds of things.
But he would still be Connor Zilisch, the only survivor from the Shuttle 635 explosion, in public records. Nothing could make that go away.
