Summary
Simon has been granted the worst possible pardon. In exchange for a limited freedom, he is the monster's experment. He must preform tasks for It, be watched by it, and help it understand how humans work so that It can put a stop to to the human entering the ocean once and for all and finally let It be in peace.
But soon, Simon realizes something.
The ocean holds the memories of everything too unfortunate to pass through.
How sad it must be to see the joys and pains humanity, and still be totally and utterly alone. To hold the memories of family, loved one, happiness, sadness, grief, love, hope, and know that you will never be able to hold any of it in your own two hands.
Perhaps Simon and his monster have more in common than they once thought. -
