“I mean it, Ilya,” he says seriously, forcing his boyfriend’s lust-blown eyes to meet his. “I can’t….force you to call me, or whatever, but I hope you do. I want you to.”
Ilya blinks, “I am used to…dealing with things alone.”
“I know,” Shane replies, a hand sliding up to cup Ilya’s head. He brushes a thumb across Ilya’s cheekbone, the soft shell of his ears. Ilya’s eyes close, and he leans into Shane’s touch.
Shane smiles at his affection, seeing what his touch does to Ilya and how it grounds him. He continues stroking his face and feels Ilya’s hands settle on his waist, warm and comforting. Shane lowers his mouth to Ilya’s, their lips a hairsbreadth apart, and says, “But you don’t have to, anymore.”
Ilya’s eyes fly open, eyes glistening and fathomless. “I will try,” he promises, after a few breaths have passed between them.
Shane grins, “That’s all I ask.”
