Beautiful in Both Forms

Summary:

Pure Vanilla and Lady in Azure finally have a private moment to themselves, allowing the ancient hero to fully unleash his true feelings.

Notes:

Can be read along with my previous Lady in Azure stories.

Work Text:

Chill evening air passed through the window, taking with it the last remnants of the sunset. Pure Vanilla had barely finished changing into his nightwear when familiar azure caught his eye.

The being who stirred up contained chaos a couple of times before now lounged across their bed, her back resting against the pillows.

The soft glow of their bedstand lamps cast across her body, making her presence even more ethereal.

Pure Vanilla found himself drawn forward without hesitation, his steps feeling as light as if he were walking on clouds. This time, when he settled beside her, there were no prying eyes to make him restrain his desires.

One arm wrapped itself around her back, and the other rested on the front of her torso. He nestled his head in the crook of her neck, already getting comfortable.

"Finally decided to join me?" She teased, tilting slightly to accommodate him better against her side.

"Mhm..." He nuzzled in closer, already feeling that familiar magnetic pull. "You're so beautiful, my love."

A hand reached up to direct her head to face his, and a small smile formed on his face before he peppered several kisses on her cheek, his lips lingering longer with each one.

The lady chuckled, playfully pushing him away. "My, someone's affectionate tonight~"

His hand fell to her shoulder, firmly holding on. The ancient tilted his head, his eyes half lidded as he gazed upon her. "Can you blame me? Having you like this, all to myself..."

He rested his head on her shoulder, getting drawn into her eyes. Eyes that he could swim in for eternity. "I could look at you forever... you're just so enchanting."

"What a bucket load of compliments~ How can you be so endearing?" She batted her eyelashes, one of her hands reaching up to hold the ancient's.

He drank in every aspect of her: hair that always fell in effortless waves, eyes that reminded him of the evening ocean, and how her clothes were always so soft, a perfect remedy for lonely hands.

He sounded absolutely lovestruck as he pulled himself closer, enjoying their proximity more than words could ever describe. "I can't help it... You just look so stunning, miss."

He buried his head back in the crook of her neck, taking a deep inhale of perfume that still lingered from the last time she'd gone out.

He could envision himself by gentle, pulsing waves, always brushing against him but never fully engulfing him.

He hummed, resting his head on her shoulder once more. "You smell so nice. Everything about you is just so perfect."

She reached over him, letting her fingers card through his soft hair. "Such sweet words... you're going to make me blush."

"Then blush for me. I love seeing your face light up." His tone was achingly tender, and the words caught the lady off guard. "Even in this form?"

He raised his head a little, their eyes locking. "In every form. You're always beautiful to me." Despite his state, his words were raw with honesty, that sentence being the clearest he'd spoken.

Her hand slowed, taking more time to brush through the long strands. "...Do you mean that? I'm sure you're aware of the natural effects of this form. How do I know what you're saying is true?"

Pure Vanilla's hand went to cup her cheek, pressing a gentle kiss to her nose.

"I don't care what the effects are, my words still hold the same amount of love." His voice trembled as he spoke, heavy with devotion.

His thumb caressed her face, still maintaining eye contact. "Whether you're towering over me as Shadow Milk or here in my arms... you're perfect."

Her voice caught in her throat, blush threatening to creep onto her face. She sat with her mouth slightly agape, equally as drawn in as he was.

Her eyes flicked downwards. "You're being unusually forward... Even with what this form does."

"Perhaps... but I mean every word. You deserve to hear how cherished you are."

"And you truly mean that?"

Pure Vanilla nestled against her shoulder, his hand sliding across her back while the other moved up her torso, both coming together to rest against her neck, voice impossibly soft. "Mhm... I love you."

There was a moment of silence, her hand in his hair coming to a complete stop. She looked away, her own voice nearly the same volume. "I love you too, I suppose."

The ancient smiled against her sleeve. "You suppose?"

She immediately snapped back, her tone slightly pointed. "Don't push your luck, I'm already being quite vulnerable here."

He closed his eyes, words coming out like a prayer. "Then I'll treasure this moment all the more."

Unbroken stillness existed for a short while, the moment only being broken by the lady removing her hand from the ancient's hair.

Her voice was low, as if she were sharing a precious secret. "You know... you're the only one who's ever made me feel beautiful in both forms."

Pure Vanilla's eyes quickly opened, shocked by the admission. "How can that be? Both forms are equally charming because they're both you."

The lady flashed a knowing smile. "Even when I'm causing chaos at formal events?"

The ancient chuckled. "Perhaps especially then." He relaxed, taking in every detail of her once more. "Though I do prefer having you like this, where I don't have to worry about proper distance."

"Is that so?" Her hand held onto his jaw, trailing her fingers across it. "Then maybe I should transform more often in private..."

He leaned into her touch, color dusting across his face. "I would like that very much, miss."

She rolled her eyes, yet she remained enthralled. "There you go with 'miss' again... you're hopelessly proper, aren't you?"

"Only for you, my dearest. Only for you."
