Chapter 1: Meet the hosts

Chapter Text

A lady seemingly in her early twenties with black hair adjusts the camera before sitting down behind a microphone.

“Hello! Call me Mari, my cohost will be back soon but he’s Danny. This podcast Lucky Ghosts is for the people who have lived through… super events without the justice league coming to aid the public.”

“Wow, starting off strong huh.” A tall man with black hair walked into screen with two steaming mugs, handing one to the first host who hummed in approval.

“ I’m Danny, if Mari hasn’t already introduced me yet. Don’t laugh it’s true, I feel like we should give the people some context.”

“I was getting to that but you cut me off. Don’t give me that look. We are live we can’t exactly restart.”

“I’m from a town in Illinois that dealt with justice league level catastrophes but for some reason, probably because we had our own hero or something no one ever came to our aid.”

“And I’m from Paris, France. Yes, the city of love, but also the city of a magical emotional terrorist.” Danny snorts as if it’s the first time hearing that. “We had two hero’s and like I understand on some level that having a justice league member become victims of the emotional terror is is obviously bad but they could have at least sent a crew of trauma specialists that are typically available to cities that are attacked, if they did that we probably wouldn’t have had so many people fall victim in the first place! The JL - that’s short for justice league for those that don’t know- could have prevented so much if they just did their jobs but no!” The lady’s accent which is now identified as French slowly bled into her voice the longer she spoke.

“Okay, that rant was held in for a while I get that so pop off I guess, I heard it, won’t be saying that again, but this is the first time I’m hearing of the JL having trauma specialists.”

“Well they always appear after the JL battle with whatever enemy they face to help the public and those who were involved in the attack.”

You seem to know a lot about this.”

“Well I wrote an award winning paper on the topic so, I would hope so.”

“No need for the snark.” The two locked eyes. Neither blinking. Until Mari sneezed.

“Fuck”

“For the people only listening, I just won a staring contest.”

“Anyway shout out to phantom doing more than the JL, even though he’s dead.”

“I love ladybug and chat noir, who dealt with way too much, so thank you to them.”

“Of course they dealt with too much, they were dealing with full JL threats while -frankly- untrained and young.” Danny said plainly.

“We don’t know how old they were, or are”

“If you look at the footage you can clearly see they still had baby fat in their faces, don’t lie to me.”

“Did not expect the hour to fly by so fast, well that’s all the time we have folks, see you next week!” The change of topic was quick and obvious

“You’re lying, never mind. See you at 5pm est next Friday.”

“Why do you have to be so specific Danny-“

The clock glared up at Barbra reading 2:39am this was something to keep an eye on. If these people were honest she might just yell at the justice league herself.

“Oracle we are heading down towards the docks, anything else we need to know?”

“There looks to be ten goons but three cars are pulling up now.”
